What if your hip is holding more than physical tension?
My left hip started hurting on moving day, before I’d lifted a single box.
There may, of course, have been physical factors involved. But when I became curious about the pain and started really listening to my body, something unexpected emerged.
I noticed anger. And underneath that, something much more familiar: endurance.
Years ago, through my root cause health coach training, I came across a theme around hips and “sitting something out” - particularly experiences where we don’t feel able to push back or defend ourselves. This theme resonated profoundly with my own experience.
It led me into an exploration of the things we learn to tolerate, what happens when an old pattern of endurance continues after circumstances have changed and the different forms that “sitting it out” can take.
As I worked through the beliefs and emotions stored in my hip, my hip pain shifted too.
I’ve written about this exploration in my latest blog:
🌿 Sitting It Out: Hip pain, endurance and the things we learn to tolerate.
