I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, and I will never stop saying it: your lymphatic system does not “detox” you.

“Detox” is used to sell lymphatic drainage constantly,I know, “detox” sounds great and it’s a proper hook, it’s why loads of us in this industry use it. I’ve been guilty of it too, not gonna lie. But it’s just not true, and if we’re calling ourselves evidence-based, we can’t keep peddling the bit that’s easy to sell over the bit that’s actually accurate.
So who’s actually doing the detoxing? Your organs, not your lymph. Your liver runs it through two clever chemical stages that turn nasty fat-soluble toxins into something water-soluble your body can get rid of. Your kidneys filter your blood and send the waste out in your wee. Your lungs breathe out CO2 and other volatile stuff. Your skin and gut do a bit too, but it’s a small supporting role, not the main event.
Your lymphatic system’s job is completely different, and it’s still pretty impressive. It’s your drainage system, clearing excess fluid out of your tissues and sending it back into circulation. It’s ferrying your immune cells around so they can do their job. It’s absorbing the fat from your food through these tiny vessels called lacteals, and sending it via the cisterna chyli and thoracic duct. And it’s rescuing big proteins your veins can’t reabsorb, getting them back where they need to be.
None of that is detox. All of it is genuinely useful, though.
So why fancy a lymphatic treatment at all? Because getting that fluid moving properly really does help with swelling, speeds up healing after surgery, and just makes your tissues happier overall. It feels amazing, it does your body good, it just doesn’t flush toxins out, and it never needed to.
Let us love your lymph for you.

Your omega-3 to omega-6 ratio affects more than joints and skin, it affects your lymphatic system too.
Omega-6 in excess feeds pro-inflammatory pathways. Omega-3 (EPA/DHA) fuels resolvins and protectins, the molecules that actively switch inflammation off. Chronic, unresolved inflammation increases fluid load and makes your lymphatic vessels work harder to do the same job.
This is why we now offer in-clinic blood testing and screening , including omega-3/6 ratios, alongside MLD. You can’t manage what you can’t measure, and knowing your ratio means we’re not guessing.

Oops noticed a typo In slide 2a it should say “once it’s done its job “not office 🤦‍♀️

Some days my knees and calves have been achey lately, so I’ve been reaching for my vibration roller, it’s always been a close friend of mine.

Here’s why it actually works and isn’t just a nice massage gadget:
The gentle vibration helps ease tight, achey muscles by increasing local blood flow and taking the edge off that heavy, tired feeling (anyone else get that after a long day on their feet?).
But the bit I love most as a lymph nerd: vibration can also encourage lymphatic flow. Your lymphatic vessels respond really well to rhythmic, gentle stimulation, it’s part of what helps move fluid along and ease that puffy, sluggish feeling in the lower legs.
So it’s not just “ooh that feels nice” (though it really does), it’s doing something genuinely useful for circulation and drainage too.
And if I’m being really honest, some days I just cannot be bothered standing on the vibration plate. Those are the days I lie down instead, roller under my calves, dog cuddled up next to me, and let it do its thing while I have a little lay down. Multitasking at its finest: pain relief, lymphatic love, and dog cuddles all at once.
10 minutes like this and my legs feel like they’ve had a proper reset. Low effort, high reward. 10/10, win win for the lazy rolling.

Eating really is my hobby!

They say you will never work a day I’d find something you truly love to do, (or something like that!) it’s true. Helping people feel better is the best thing ever. I love my job, I love my clients and I never want to stop learning to be better at it what I do.
