βš½πŸ† Football fever hits Hesslewood House! πŸ†βš½

This week is Care Home Open Week, and at Hesslewood House Care Home in Hessle, residents have been enjoying all the excitement of this year's World Cup theme.

While the team has been busy welcoming visitors and families to the home, residents have been showing off their own football skills thanks to a fantastic activity organised by Bronwen from our Activities Team.

There was plenty of cheering, laughter and friendly competition as residents took part in football-themed games, encouraging one another every step of the way.

The best activities are often the ones that bring people together, and this certainly did that. In fact, residents were still chatting about the afternoon and sharing stories hours later!

At Hesslewood House, activities are about much more than keeping busy. They help build confidence, encourage movement, spark conversation and, most importantly, create moments of joy.

A huge well done to Bronwen for another brilliant activity that had everyone smiling.

⚽ Who says football is just for the professionals?

πŸ“šβ˜• A new chapter begins at Hesslewood House! β˜•πŸ“š

Residents at Hesslewood House Care Home have been enjoying the launch of the home's very first Book Club, thanks to Sophie, one of our newest members of the activities team.

Everyone was invited to choose something they enjoy reading, whether it was a classic novel, a mystery, fiction, a magazine or something completely different. After some quiet reading time, residents came together over a cuppa to chat about their books, share favourite parts and discuss the memories and thoughts they inspired.

There was plenty of conversation, laughter and storytelling as everyone discovered a little more about each other's interests and experiences.

At Hesslewood House, we know that meaningful activities come in many forms. Sometimes it's a day trip, sometimes it's getting creative, and sometimes it's simply relaxing with a good book and good company.

The Book Club is already proving popular, and we're told the next meeting may even include some snacks too! πŸͺπŸ“–

Well done, Sophie, for bringing a wonderful new activity to the home and helping residents continue to enjoy the hobbies they love.

πŸ’™ A review that means the world to our team at Hesslewood House πŸ’™

Some reviews are difficult to read, not because of the care provided, but because they remind us of the emotional journey families go through when saying goodbye to a loved one.

Recently, a family shared these kind words with us:

"We really could not have wished for any more care and dignity for mum. We were kept constantly in touch with the staff and were genuinely touched by the emotions also shown towards us regarding Mum. Our heartfelt thank you goes to all the team."

At Hesslewood House Care Home, we know that end-of-life care is about much more than meeting physical needs. It's about kindness, dignity, reassurance and being there for families during one of the most difficult times of their lives.

Keeping families informed, answering questions, offering support and ensuring loved ones are treated with compassion and respect are just as important as the care itself.

We are incredibly grateful to this family for taking the time to share their experience during such a sad and emotional period.

To our team, thank you for the care, professionalism and compassion you show every day. And to the family, thank you for allowing us to care for your mum and for your heartfelt words.

πŸ’™ Everyone has a life worth celebrating.

πŸ’™ What does love mean to you? πŸ’™

At Hesslewood House Care Home in Hessle, our residents have been reflecting on just that as part of National Loving Day.

Residents created their own beautiful love mobiles, decorating hearts with the people, places, memories and even pets that have brought love and happiness into their lives over the years.

From lifelong friendships and family members to treasured memories and favourite places, every mobile told its own story. Once finished, residents proudly displayed them in their room windows for everyone to admire.

Taking part in activities like this is about so much more than arts and crafts. They encourage conversation, stimulate memories, promote wellbeing and give residents the opportunity to share the experiences that have shaped their lives.

A big well done to Anita, Barbara, James, Shirley and June, who created some wonderful displays and enjoyed sharing what love means to them. ❀️

At Hesslewood House, we're always looking for meaningful activities that bring people together, encourage creativity and help residents celebrate the lives they've lived.

Sometimes, doing nothing is exactly what's needed πŸ’™

At Hesslewood House Care Home in Hessle, our residents enjoy a wide variety of activities, outings and events designed to keep minds active, encourage social interaction and bring plenty of fun into each day.

But sometimes, it's equally important to slow down.

To mark World Meditation Day, and as part of Mental Health Awareness Month, Bronwyn from our Activities Team organised a virtual meditation session focusing on mindfulness, relaxation and inner peace.

With calming music playing and a peaceful atmosphere throughout the room, residents were invited to sit back, relax and take a moment for themselves.

The result?

A wonderfully calm and tranquil session... although we suspect a few residents may have become so relaxed that they drifted off to sleep! 😊

Joking aside, moments like these are incredibly important. Taking time to relax, reflect and simply be still can have a positive impact on wellbeing, helping to reduce stress and promote a sense of calm and contentment.

At Hesslewood House, person-centred care means recognising that wellbeing comes in many forms. Some days it's a trip out, a singalong or a creative activity. Other days, it's simply finding a quiet moment to pause and enjoy the peace.

And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. πŸ’™
