πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ A very special moment at Hesslewood House! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

Our Summer Fair on Saturday was already a fantastic day, but we had another very important reason to celebrate as the Mayor of Hessle, Councillor Phil Davison, officially unveiled our Veteran Friendly Care Home plaque!

We are incredibly proud of the Hesslewood House team for completing the Veteran Friendly Framework. It has been a brilliant experience and, even better, it has already introduced us to new people, groups and opportunities within the Hessle community.

That is what makes achieving the plaque so exciting. It isn't simply something to put on the wall – it's about the friendships being made, the stories being shared and making sure veterans living at Hesslewood House feel recognised, understood and connected to the community around them. ❀️

A huge thank you to our residents and their families, and to all the wonderful local groups and organisations who have supported us and become part of the journey.

And an enormous WELL DONE to Team Hesslewood! πŸ‘πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

You worked hard to achieve this and should be incredibly proud of what you've created along the way.

The plaque may now be on the wall…but we think this is really just the beginning! πŸ’™

β˜€οΈπŸŽͺ And what a day we had at the Hesslewood House Summer Fair! πŸŽͺβ˜€οΈ

We were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Hessle, Councillor Phil Davison, accompanied by his wife, Liz Davison, to join residents, families, friends and our team for a very special afternoon.

And as Councillor Davison pointed out, the weather couldn't have been better! After all that heat, it was finally cool enough for everyone who wanted to come outside, join in and really enjoy themselves. ❀️

Sometimes you don't need too many words because the pictures tell the story β€” and the smiles tell you even more. 😊

There was laughter, fun, plenty going on and that wonderful feeling you get when residents, families, colleagues and people from our local community all come together.

Days like this are so important for our residents, but they're also brilliant for our team. Away from the everyday routine, everyone gets stuck in, has a laugh together and enjoys being part of something special β€” and that's what makes a great team even stronger.

A huge thank you to Councillor Davison and Liz for joining us, to everyone who came along and, of course, to our fabulous Hesslewood House team who worked so hard to make the day such a success.

What a day. What a team. And just look at those smiles! πŸ’™πŸŽ‰

Our residents got creative again last week by making their very own frisbees! 🎨

Everyone enjoyed decorating their designs before heading out into our beautiful gardens to put them to the test in the glorious sunshine.

Were we frisbee champions? Not quite! πŸ˜„ There were plenty of missed catches and wayward throws, but even more laughter. Sometimes it's not about getting it right – it's about having fun together, enjoying the fresh air and making the most of a lovely summer's day.

Our Activities Coordinator, Sophie, also created a brilliant homemade game, challenging residents to carefully balance foam rings on a board without them toppling over. It was much trickier than it looked and encouraged plenty of concentration, teamwork, problem-solving and friendly competition, with lots of laughs along the way.

Activities like these encourage creativity, gentle movement, hand-eye coordination and cognitive stimulation while bringing people together to share conversation, smiles and happy memories.

A perfect afternoon spent enjoying our gardens, each other's company and making the most of the wonderful weather.

🎬🍿 Who needs the cinema when you've got one at Hesslewood House? 🍿🎬

Our residents enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at the Hesslewood House Cinema, complete with popcorn, drinks and a film chosen by Geoff.

The choice this time was Crime 101... although it's fair to say Geoff was a little surprised when it started and the opening fight scene was a bit more action-packed (and gory!) than he'd expected! πŸ˜„ Thankfully, there are hundreds of films to choose from on our Smart TV, with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and more, so there's always something for everyone.

After the film, everyone put their thinking caps on for a music quiz, rounding off another enjoyable afternoon together.

At Hesslewood House, it's all about choice. Whether residents fancy a classic film, the latest release, a musical or a comedy, having their own cinema means they can enjoy the experience in the comfort of home, surrounded by friends.

Sometimes it's not about the film itselfβ€”it's about sharing the popcorn, having a laugh and spending time . If you are looking at care homes for a loved one, call us; 01482 767450

πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§ We're officially a Veteran Friendly Care Home! πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§

We're absolutely delighted to share that Hesslewood House has successfully completed the Veteran Friendly Framework! πŸ’™

Over the past few months, our team has been on an incredible journey, getting out into the local community, meeting veterans' organisations, attending Armed Forces events and taking our residents on some wonderful trips, including a fascinating visit to the military exhibition at Burton Constable Hall.

We've welcomed visitors from Ssafa - The Armed Forces Charity, East Yorkshire Branch, met some amazing people and, most importantly, created new opportunities for our residents to reconnect with military memories, make new friendships and enjoy being part of the veteran community once again.

A huge congratulations to Alison, Diane, LeAnn and the whole Hesslewood House team for the hard work and enthusiasm they've shown throughout the process. You've embraced every opportunity, and it's already making a real difference to our residents.

The best part is this isn't the endβ€”it's just the beginning!

We're already planning more events, more outings and more opportunities to support veterans and their families, ensuring those who have served our country continue to feel recognised, respected and connected to their local community.

We're incredibly proud of this achievement and excited about everything still to come.

πŸ’™ Everyone has a life worth celebrating.
