Looking beyond the symptoms 🌿

This lovely client came to me for support with the discomfort and stiffness she experiences in her hands due to arthritis, and yesterday was her third acupuncture treatment.

Rather than focusing solely on where symptoms are being felt, acupuncture takes a broader look at the individual. As part of her consultation, we explored patterns and imbalances that may be relevant to her overall wellbeing, which helped me tailor her acupuncture treatment and select points specifically for her.

We’ve also been looking at diet and lifestyle, including whether there are particular foods or other factors that seem to coincide with a worsening of her symptoms.

For me, this is an important part of a holistic approach: looking at the person as a whole, not simply the symptom in isolation.

Every treatment is individual, and what is appropriate for one person may be completely different for another. Acupuncture isn’t a replacement for medical treatment for arthritis, but some people choose to use it alongside their usual care to help manage symptoms and support their general wellbeing.

Can acupuncture help with everything? Not quite, and we think that's worth being upfront about.

What we see, again and again, is acupuncture working well, sometimes on its own and sometimes as part of a bigger picture of care. It's well known for pain and headaches, but many of our members also use it to support people through quitting smoking, sleep troubles, hay fever symptoms and low mood, often alongside other treatment where that combination is what someone needs.

The key is proper diagnosis. Acupuncture isn't one technique applied the same way to everyone, it's tailored to what's actually going on for that person, and it usually takes a course of sessions rather than a single visit to see the benefit.

Have you tried acupuncture alongside other treatment? We'd love to hear how it fitted into your care in the comments.

“Good Morning Helen. This morning was the first morning that I could get out of bed without pain and walk down the stairs. Thank you so much 🙏 x”

Feedback this morning from a lovely new client after her first treatment on Tuesday. Results vary from one person to the next, but it’s amazing the difference a few carefully placed needles can make 💛

A good result in clinic this week 🙌

I used electroacupuncture as part of this client’s treatment for knee pain, and they reported a noticeable reduction in their symptoms afterwards.

Sometimes a little extra stimulation can make a big difference. ⚡️📍

Individual responses to treatment vary. DM for more information or to book, or call Helen on 07712 560743

From 8/10 pain to 2/10 in just 15 minutes.

Yesterday, a client came in experiencing significant sciatic pain through her lower back and hip, radiating down her leg and into her ankle.

We used Battlefield Acupuncture — a specialised auricular acupuncture technique using tiny semi-permanent needles placed at specific points in the ear.

Within 15 minutes, she reported her pain had reduced from 8/10 to 2/10.

When I checked in with her today, the pain level remained lower, and the discomfort was now localised to her hip rather than radiating down the leg.

It’s always encouraging to see such a positive response to treatment.

Every person responds differently, and results can vary, but this was a lovely outcome from yesterday’s session. Message or call Helen on 07712 560743 if you think Battlefield acupuncture can help you.

A lovely little Achilles update ❤️

Remember my new client who came to see me with troublesome Achilles tendon pain?

Well, she was back for her second treatment this week — and I was delighted to hear how she’s been getting on. 😊

Since her first session, she reports much less pain in her Achilles, particularly those first few steps getting out of bed in the morning — something that had been really bothering her.

And another little win… 💪 She’s been able to use the incline on the treadmill at the gym again, which she hasn’t been able to do for ages!

So, some really encouraging early progress. 🙌

This week we continued her treatment and now we’ll see how things develop from here.

Thank you again to my lovely client for allowing me to share these anonymous treatment photos. ❤️

It’s not always about huge changes overnight — sometimes getting back to the little things you haven’t been able to do for a long time feels pretty huge!

From 6/10 pain to 2/10 using just four ear points.

Yesterday I treated a client experiencing back and hip pain down one side of her body, which she rated as 6/10 at the start of her session.

Using just four Battlefield Acupuncture points, she reported that her pain had reduced to 2/10 immediately following treatment.

When pain is mainly on one side, we can naturally start to move and hold ourselves differently to avoid it. In this case, she was beginning to twist and compensate through her body, which had the potential to create further tension and imbalance.

Every person responds differently, of course, and results can vary — but this was a lovely outcome for this client, and she has fed back today that her pain levels remain reduced.

A gentle, holistic first treatment today for a client experiencing painful, arthritic fingers.

Helping people move with less pain, one treatment at a time.

This client, in her 80s, first contacted me when her sciatica had become unbearable. After an initial home visit using Battlefield Acupuncture, her pain reduced considerably. She now comes for monthly acupuncture treatments, which she finds invaluable in helping her manage her symptoms and stay active.

It’s a privilege to support people in this way.

Thank you to my client for allowing me to share this image and your story. 💚

Knee pain doesn’t have to hold you back.

This treatment focused on helping a client manage ongoing knee pain using acupuncture as part of a tailored treatment plan.

Knee pain can stem from many different causes, which is why every assessment and treatment is individual. My aim is to reduce discomfort, improve movement, and help clients get back to doing the things they enjoy.

If you’re struggling with persistent knee pain, don’t ignore it—early treatment can make a real difference.
Book your appointment today and let’s get you moving comfortably again.

Results vary from person to person, and treatment is tailored to the individual. Message or call Helen on 07712 560743.
