Could you be our next Community Fundraising Lead?

Do you love bringing people together, building relationships and making a real difference in your community?

Join Tynedale Hospice at Home and help grow our community fundraising through events, campaigns, and new ideas.

You will work with volunteers, supporters and local organisations to raise vital funds and support local people and their families.

This role could be for you if you're creative, organised, a people person and passionate about making a difference.

A lot of hospice care happens quietly.

A nurse arriving at someone’s home late at night because symptoms have changed.

A volunteer driver making sure someone gets to treatment without facing the journey alone.

Someone sitting with a family who are trying to understand what comes next.

A bereavement practitioner giving a child somewhere safe to talk about the person they miss.

None of those moments are especially dramatic from the outside.

But when you are the person living through them, having someone there who knows what to do — and who understands how much the ordinary things matter too — can change the experience completely.

That care depends on people with the skill, experience and time to be there when they’re needed.

A big thank you to The County Hotel ♥️

We would like to say thank you to The County, for generously providing a welcoming space, for a Volunteer Patient Driver meeting. 🚗

Our volunteers and Volunteer Co-ordinator get together regularly to connect, support one another, and share feedback and ideas.
These conversations help us continue to improve the service for local people.

We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated volunteers for their continued commitment and support. ♥️
We simply could not operate this service without them.

Evelyn has been a nurse for more than 40 years.

She has worked in cardiac surgery, liver transplantation, high dependency and general practice. In 2023, she joined Tynedale Hospice at Home.

Today, much of her work happens through the night, caring for people approaching the end of life in their own homes.

That means bringing all of that experience into a very different setting.

Knowing how to manage symptoms. Recognising when something has changed. Helping someone remain comfortable. Giving a family confidence that the person they love is safe and being cared for.

And sometimes, because Evelyn is there, a husband, wife, son or daughter can finally go upstairs and sleep.

As Evelyn puts it:

“Giving families the space to sleep enables them to carry on caring.”

It is a simple thing, but it says a lot about what skilled hospice care can make possible.

Serious illness can change almost every part of ordinary life. It can mean learning how to manage symptoms you’ve never dealt with before. Waking in the night wondering whether something has changed. Trying to understand what to do next, while also being the person someone you love depends on.

Skilled hospice care can make that experience different.

Our nurses and healthcare professionals bring the knowledge and experience to manage pain and complex symptoms and help people stay safely at home when that is where they want to be.

And around that clinical care are all the other things that matter too. Feeling reassured enough to sleep. Having an hour where you don’t have to be the carer. Sitting together without every conversation being about illness.

That’s why Hospice Care Week matters. Good end-of-life care shouldn’t depend on where you live, what support happens to be available or whether a family knows where to turn.
