Long before most people train as therapists or hypnotherapists, they have already been doing a version of it without realising.

Most of us know a certain moment, even if we rarely talk about it, the moment you realised that simply being there with someone actually helped. You didn't have the answers and you weren't qualified in anything yet, but you were there, and somehow that was enough to leave them feeling less alone with whatever they were carrying.

For a lot of us it started long before we ever thought about training. You were the friend people came to when things fell apart, the one strangers ended up telling their whole life story to, the person others felt safe enough around to say the things they had never said to anyone.

You probably thought nothing of it at the time because it was just you, yet that was the instinct already there. The training is what comes next, because it takes that natural instinct and gives it shape, depth and real skill, turning something you do by accident into something you can offer with confidence.

So when did you first notice that people opened up to you?

And if something stirred while you were reading this, a sense that this might be the work you are meant to be doing, it is worth paying attention to, because that feeling usually knows what it is talking about.

Funny thing about the mind.

Most people think hypnotherapy is about being put under. Going somewhere. Switching off.

It's actually the opposite. It's one of the few times in modern life where you're properly switched on. Aware. Present. Just without all the noise that usually crowds the space.

Most people don't realise how loud their own head has become until they sit in that kind of quiet for the first time.

Out of curiosity, when's the last time your mind actually felt quiet? 🤔🧠

Some weekends just hit different, and this was one of them.

We've just finished the Past Life Regression training at the Somerset School of Hypnotherapy, and honestly... what came up in the room over the last few days was something else.

People walked in curious. Open. A few not really sure what they were walking into.

And then they had a go.

Lives that caught them off guard. Emotion that came up out of nowhere. Stuff that quietly made sense of things they hadn't been able to put their finger on before.

We went into the history of it, because this work has roots and it helps to know where it comes from. We talked about what's actually going on when someone drops into that state, what the mind is up to, and why what comes up tends to land exactly where it needs to.

But the real learning came from just doing it. Everyone had their turn. Everyone facilitated. Everyone got held through their own process, then learned how to hold someone else through theirs.

You can't teach that from a screen. It has to be in the room. And it was.

So a massive well done to our newest Past Life Regression practitioners. You came in curious, and you're walking out with something real. You didn't just learn it, you stepped right into it.

We'll be running this again later in the year. You don't need to be a hypnotherapist either, loads of the people who come are counsellors, coaches, therapists, or just folk who feel drawn to understanding themselves and other people a bit more deeply.
