There’s a bit of kitchen witchin’ going on today at Herbology HQ. I’m busy making TLC balm to bring to the this weekend. TLC Balm is so called for 2 reasons: it’s Tender Loving 🥰 Care balm - a good all purpose first aid ⛑️ balm for any bumps, grazes, bruises, burns or anything else. It’s also Traffic Light 🚦 balm because it’s made of red St John’s Wort oil, orange Calendula oil and green Comfrey oil (although this one isn’t very green!). It’ll sort just about any little emergency 🚨 at home and it’s an essential part of any home herbal first aid kit. Let me know if you’d like some. And talking of herbal first aid, that’s my next workshop coming up on 19th July, and you’re invited. It’s in the afternoon at .woodlands. Fancy coming? Pop me a message.

Do you ever find your thoughts 💭 running away with you? Or do you ever wish you’d fully engaged your brain before saying that thing? Once upon a time my mind had no off switch. The thoughts (most of which weren’t useful at all) just wouldn’t stop coming, and I was constantly regretting the things I’d said. In the end it all got too much and I knew I had to do something. So I went to a meditation 🧘 class. Sitting still and quiet was hard at first, but I kept on going back until I got a nanosecond of that blissful serenity I’d heard so much about. That was 20 years ago, and meditation has now become an essential part of my daily routine. People have done it for thousands of years to find enlightenment, but I just like it because I feel so much better. I’m calmer, clearer and generally a nicer person when I keep the meditation going, and maybe it could help you too? This month we’re exploring right thought and right speech. Our guided meditation helps you to become more aware of your thoughts and words, how they affect you, and those around you. Everyone’s welcome - there’s no judgement and plenty of gentle support from the rest of our group. So join us on 17th June at 7.00pm for 30 minutes of meditation and an hour of tea 🍵 & chat. It’s a great way to strengthen your resilience both through the meditation itself and the new friendships you’ll form. Places are £15 each which includes a recording of the meditation to listen to at home 🏠. Please message me to find out more or book your place.

You might not feel like it right now, but you are in fact a peaceful person. We all are on the inside.

I know, it’s hard to believe isn’t it? I didn’t believe it myself, but I got so fed up with the same ridiculous thoughts playing in my head the entire time, I had to do something. So I joined a meditation class.

Sitting quiet and still was almost impossible at first, and my mind stayed busy, but that’s pretty normal to start with. I kept going back until I caught a brief glimpse of that serenity I’d heard so much about. I wanted more, so I kept going, and I’ve been going now for about 20 years. It’s changed my life, and it might change yours too.

Humans have meditated for enlightenment for thousands of years. The more we practice, the more layers we discover, but I just like it because it makes my life easier. I’m calmer, clearer, and generally a nicer person when I meditate regularly. Meditation also helps you stay healthy on a physical level, reducing blood pressure and pain.

It might sound too good to be true, but all it requires is for you to give it a go, and keep giving it a go until you notice that little bit of peace. You’ll be with like minded souls, and you’ll even get a recording of the meditation to listen to at home.

We’re meeting this: Wednesday evening at Beckies Tea Room in Cleobury Mortimer, and Friday at Spiro Clinic in Ludlow from 12.30-1.30. Please book in advance via the link in the comments.

That’s why I’m inviting you to my next ‘Quiet Mind’ meditation 🧘 meetup next Friday lunchtime. We start with a short guided meditation, and finish with a cup of tea and a friendly chat.

The meditation helps you to find your inner peace and build resilience. It shrinks the part of your brain that triggers anxiety and strengths the part that makes you calm ☺️.

The tea and chat 💬 helps you find kinship with like minded people. This is a safe space to talk honestly about how you are without judgement.

We meet at Spiro clinic in Ludlow from 12.30-1.30 on 5th June and Beckie’s tea room in Cleobury Mortimer on Wednesday 3rd from 7-8.30. Please message me to book your place.

In my bid to make more home 🏠 grown / foraged medicines this year, here’s my first ever Sweet Chestnut 🌰 tincture. I made friends with another forager whilst I was gathering this too - a Romanian 🇷🇴 lady with a wealth of herbal wisdom from her home country. We chatted for ages!
I’m getting an increasing number of young men seeing in clinic worried about their fertility, and that’s exactly what Sweet Chestnuts were, and still are used for. But I’ve just tinctured the leaves and flower buds and I’ll experiment on myself once it’s finished. The leaves were used as a tonic and to treat fevers. The flowers are used to make a Bach Flower Remedy for people who are absolutely at the edge of what they can cope with, so I’m looking forward to trying it out- look 👀 how frothy it is 😄!
