UK Veterans Hearing Foundation

UK Veterans Hearing Foundation We believe that we should honour those who have served and still serve our country by offering them the best hearing technology at the best price & service

Since becoming a charity, we have managed to fit over 50 veterans with top-class hearing aids! However, we still have more than 2,500 veterans who need our help in getting back to a normal standard of life after the hearing damage they received in their years of service. Any donations we receive are a huge help in the lives of our vets and we are eternally grateful for whatever you may be able to spare.

Getting used to new hearing aids takes time, and finding the right fit is an important part of the process.

When Mr Hyde's first devices did not quite meet his hearing requirements, they were changed without any difficulty. He is now settling into his Oticon Real 1 rechargeable hearing aids, with Waheed Yousef and the team at James Hearing supporting him along the way.

A heartfelt thank you to the Bill Brown 1989 Charitable Trust for funding his hearing aids.

Mr Malcolm Doubleday spent part of his Army service inside Centurion and Chieftain tanks, where intense noise affected his hearing. Now, years later, conversations became difficult to follow and social situations often led to misunderstandings, and hearing loss left him feeling isolated.

With support from the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation and funding from Childwick Trust, Mr Doubleday received Oticon Intent 1 hearing aids from Homecare Hearing Ltd. Here's his verdict, “Brilliant.” They feel comfortable, help him hear conversations clearly and give him control over the volume in different environments. He also enjoys connecting them to his phone, and the television is now much quieter at home.

After more than 40 years of living with tinnitus, veteran Mr Terence Watson believed he simply had to live with the constant distraction.

With funding support from the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, Terence received a TinniSoothe wearable sound therapy device. His early experience has helped him concentrate on reading, painting and the activities he loves, particularly during quieter moments.

“I’m delighted to have something to alleviate the sounds I’ve lived with for so long.”

As his hearing became more difficult he approached the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, and we helped him find a route suited to his needs and circumstances. For Merchant Navy veteran Mr Albert Aung Htut, hearing clearly had become harder over time. The conversations, phone calls and everyday sounds were not always easy to follow, even with the NHS hearing aids he was wearing.

Thanks to the generous support of Childwick Trust, our charity, the UK Veterans Hearing Foundation, was able to help Mr Aung Htut access new Oticon hearing aids, fitted by Homecare Hearing Ltd.

The feedback says it all: “They’re perfect.” We are proud to have supported Mr Aung Htut on his hearing journey and grateful to everyone who helped make this possible.

Mr Michael Norris served in the RAF for 34 years, he has spent thousands of hours around aircraft noise, firing ranges and demanding aviation environments. Now years later, the impact of that noise exposure continued to affect his everyday life, from conversations at home to social settings and car journeys.

With funding from the Veterans’ Foundation and fitting support from Hear at Home Cornwall, UK Veterans Hearing Foundation helped Mr Norris access the hearing support he needed.
