Cambridge Acorn Project

Cambridge Acorn Project We offer therapeutic work to children and families, schools and communities, across Cambridgeshire who have experienced trauma or emotional distress.

The Cambridge Acorn Project aims to provide services and support to individuals and groups suffering from trauma or stresses which either do not meet the threshold for statutory involvement, or where there are no services currently available to offer support. In particular we aim to support children and their parents to cope with traumatic, stressful or emotionally difficult situations in order to

improve well-being and future prospects. Our work uses an empathy based approach in which understanding and mutual respect are crucial in working together with those in need. We take a holistic view to encompass issues of social justice, such as poverty and deprivation. We are currently able to provide one to one therapeutic support and also offer consultancy and training on all aspects of empathic responses to stress and trauma.

One of our therapists shared this:

For some children, walking into a room can feel overwhelming.
At first, they may avoid eye contact.
They might not be sure what to do, or how to play.
But with time… things begin to change.
One day, they run in with a smile.
They talk about their sessions like they’re going on holiday.
Small changes don’t happen overnight—but they do happen.

That’s why we’re proud to be part of with . Because every child deserves the chance to flourish 💛Between 22 and 29 June, every donation will be doubled via our Big Give campaign page. Sign up for a reminder to donate: https://www.cambridgeacornproject.org.uk/smallcharityweek

A huge thank you to the brilliant team from for spending the morning helping to sort out our garden 🌿

From lots of weeding and pruning to some much‑needed planting, their support has made such a difference — especially as we prepare to open our garden next month for Histon and Impington Open Gardens.

We are so grateful for the time, energy and care they gave, and we honestly can’t thank them enough. Saffery are such wonderful corporate partners and are incredibly engaged in what we do as a charity. We feel very lucky to have their continued support 💚
