Teens Unite Fighting Cancer

Teens Unite Fighting Cancer Improving the lives of teenagers & young adults living with, & beyond cancer. This inevitably has a massive impact on their friendships and self confidence.

Teens Unite Fighting Cancer was co-founded by Karen Millen OBE and supports teenagers (aged 13-24) with cancer.. The charity aims to help young people build on their self esteem and self confidence and reduce feelings of isolation by taking them on fun days out. Activities range from concerts and football matches to motivational art and beauty workshops. The charity is based in Hertfordshire but supports teens from all across the South East. What makes Teens Unite unique as a charity helping this age range is that we support teenagers through treatment, remission and beyond, for as long as they need. The teenage years can be challenging enough without being devastated by a life-limiting diagnosis. We find that our teens need support post treatment more than ever as they have missed large amounts of school, work or university due to treatment. Our main aim is to get our teens together as often as possible in a fun-filled environment; giving them the chance to share their experiences and gain strength from realising that they are not alone in their battle. We recently asked our teens to fill in a questionnaire about the charity. One teen said that "Teens Unite is my lifeline".

Teens Unite ON AIR!🤩

Today, 1.3million people heard about our charity, and what life is like for young people overcoming cancer.

We were so grateful to be invited to Global to join the Capital Breakfast Show as part of Global’s Make Some Noise Charity Day.

Adison and Athena, two young people we support, spoke to Jordan North, Sian Welby and Chris Stark about the support they’ve received from Teens Unite - and they did an amazing job sharing their experiences with such a huge audience!

And that wasn’t all…

We had the chance to go behind the scenes at Global, taking a tour around the studios and seeing what goes on behind the radio shows we hear every day. We even had the opportunity to record a podcast with the Global’s Make Some Noise charity team! 💚💜

A huge thank you for giving the young people the opportunity to share their stories and for your support to Teens Unite.

We’re so grateful to have been part of such a special day.🫶

Did you know, 100% of the young people who came along to our Discover You event left feeling confident and more positive about their future.

Our event at YouTube HQ gave the young people we support the chance to openly explore what comes next for them during and after cancer.

Hearing from our panel of inspiring leaders, they were able to listen to people from different industries share their personal experiences - the highs, the lows and everything in between - while sharing advice on navigating education, employment and finding their own path. It was a chance to ask questions, gain new perspectives and see what could be possible for their future, all at their own pace amongst other young people who ‘get it’. 🫶

Thank you to everyone who made the event possible, from our inspiring speakers and partners to everyone who helped bring the day together. We’re so grateful for everyone who gave their time, shared their experiences, and helped make Discover You such a valuable experience for the young people we support.

These opportunities are vital for helping young people feel more confident about what comes next, discover what they’re capable of and take their next steps without cancer holding them back.💚💜

Your donation can help us continue creating opportunities like this for young people living with, and beyond cancer.

As Childhood Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re introducing Rian.

Rian was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, aged 14. When his childhood was all about football, friends, and school, cancer changed everything.

And when treatment finished, the impact of cancer didn’t end there.

Sadly, this is the case for so many young people who face cancer as a child, where the effects - physically, mentally, emotionally and socially follow them into their teenage years.

That’s why ongoing support after treatment matters too.

At Teens Unite, we’re here for young people living with and beyond cancer, however long its been since they were diagnosed.

Through our activities, programmes and residential stays, they can live life without cancer defining who they are and what they can achieve.

But this is only possible with your support.

Please donate via the link in our bio and help us be there for more young people living with, and beyond, cancer.
