Persistent pain doesn’t always mean there’s an obvious injury. 🌿
Sometimes persistent pain can start even when you haven’t injured yourself, and scans show nothing unusual. 🤔
That’s because pain is influenced by so much more than just what’s happening in our tissues. 👀
Things like:
• Stress levels
• Sleep quality
• Fatigue
• Past injuries and experiences
• How safe the brain feels
All of these can affect how our nervous system responds to pain.
So, just because a scan is normal, it doesn’t mean the pain isn’t real. ❤️
So, what can you do about it — and where can Bowen fit in?
If pain is influenced by things like stress, poor sleep, fatigue and how safe your nervous system feels, sometimes the answer isn’t simply to “find the injury”.
Because Bowen is a very gentle hands-on therapy, it encourages relaxation and helps the body’s nervous system move towards a calmer state, allowing the brain to feel safe. 😌
Of course, Bowen isn’t a replacement for medical assessment, especially if pain is new, severe or unexplained. But it can be a useful complementary therapy alongside appropriate medical care.
Sometimes helping the body feel a little safer and calmer is a good place to start. 💙
