WE TRY NOT TO DO THE BORING MOANING POSTS BUT SOMETIMES THESE THINGS NEED SAYING (FROM A GOOD PLACE I PROMISE)
Tattooing isn’t what it was 25+ years ago…
Tattooing has changed massively.
Years ago, you could walk into a studio, pick something off the wall and have a name tattooed for £10. Things are very different now.
The standards are higher. There are far more rules and regulations, much stricter hygiene and sterilisation procedures, and a huge amount of disposable equipment that has to be used for every client.
And honestly, some of those consumables cost an eye-watering amount.
So when you ask for “just a small tattoo” or “just a small cover-up”, it might look like a small job to you — but it still costs us money, time and skill to do it properly.
A cover-up especially isn’t simply putting a new tattoo over the top. It needs to be designed around the existing ink, usually needs to be bigger and darker, and requires experience to make sure the old tattoo is actually concealed.
You’re not just paying for the few minutes the needle is touching your skin. You’re paying for the artist’s time, experience and skill, the design and preparation, the equipment, the ink, needles, ink caps, cling film, Vaseline, sterilisation, cleaning, electricity, insurance and all the other costs involved in running a professional, regulated studio and believe me that isn’t cheap!!
So yes — even if it’s “only a small tattoo” or “only covering a name”, it still costs us money to do.
And we’d rather explain why than simply throw a price at you and have you wonder where it comeS from ❤️ If you want to see Baz next door for a name priced at £10 feel free but we don’t work that way and we’ll look forward to quoting a laser price 😂😂 Most don’t question the price they know what they want and who they want to do it but we like to be crystal clear that’s the price and that’s the reason 👆❤️
