Welcome to SENsory Adventures 🫧🫟

SENsory Adventures is all about giving children aged 2–12 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities a fun, welcoming space to explore, play, and meet their sensory needs.

Our sessions are packed with sensory fun, from messy play and water play to spinning, jumping, balancing, and exploring different textures. We encourage children to move their bodies, get hands-on, and discover what they enjoy in a way that works for them.

We also have an outdoor area where children can run, play, explore, and enjoy even more sensory experiences in the fresh air.

There’s no pressure, no expectations - just plenty of opportunities to play, explore, make friends, and have fun in a space where everyone is accepted for who they are.

We love celebrating every achievement, big or small, and watching children grow in confidence while doing what they do best - being themselves! 💙

Our farm tuff trays🐸🐮🫟

When creating our tuff tray activities, I always try to include something for everyone - wet, dry, sticky, messy, and even options for children who prefer a little less mess! 🌿✨

At our farm-themed session, we explored four different sensory and play experiences, each designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and skill development.

🐸 The Frog Pond - We used green Gelli Baff to create a frogspawn-inspired pond. Not only does it look amazing, but it smells lovely too as it’s designed for bath play! The squishy texture provides a fantastic sensory experience, and it’s surprisingly easy to clean up afterwards.

🧽 Clean the Animals - Our farm animals got very muddy in a homemade mud mixture made from cornflour, cocoa powder, and water. Children used soapy water and sponges to wash them clean, developing fine motor skills and imaginative play. Oobleck-style mixtures are always a favourite, and the addition of cocoa powder made it smell delicious while remaining taste-safe!

🐮 Milk the Cows - Using a mixture of white paint, cornflour, and water, we created a realistic “milk” experience. Children used droppers to transfer the liquid, strengthening hand muscles, coordination, and fine motor control while enjoying a fun farmyard challenge.

🐷 The Dry Farm - For children who prefer a less messy sensory experience, we created a dry farm using green-coloured rice as grass and Coco Pops as mud. This encouraged imaginative small-world play, scooping, pouring, and exploration of different textures.

Providing a variety of sensory experiences helps ensure every child can engage in a way that feels comfortable and enjoyable for them❤️

Our first SENsory Adventures session in our new venue ☀️

I can’t begin to describe how full my heart felt seeing so many smiling faces enjoying this beautiful new space. There’s something so special about having a vision and watching it come to life right in front of you 💛

From getting messy in the tuff trays to dipping toes in the paddling pool, creating shapes from puffy dough to painting the animals, and using the equipment to rock, jump, and spin!

Watching the children explore, play, connect, and feel safe in an environment created just for them reminded me exactly why I started this journey. Every laugh, every little moment of curiosity, and every happy face made today unforgettable.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made our very first session here so magical - this is only the beginning ✨

Hi everyone 💛

I’m currently looking for donations to support our sensory sessions, and any help would be hugely appreciated!

We’re especially looking for:
• Peppa Pig & Bluey figures
• Toy cars
• Animal figures
• Foam mats
• Water toys
• Fish bubble tube
• Sensory toys
• Any sound/light toys
• Train set

If you have anything you’re no longer using and would be happy to donate, it would make a real difference to the children who attend our sessions.

We now have a new venue for our SENsory Adventures sessions!
Our new venue has an outdoor area, perfect for some outdoor sensory activities now the sun has started to show up for us☀️

Our sessions will now be held at Fryerns Community Centre, Whitmore Way, Basildon, Essex, SS14 2NN.

Our sensory toy area is a calm, welcoming space where children can explore, regulate, and play at their own pace.

With tactile toys, calming resources, visual sensory items, and cosy corners, there’s something to support every sensory need. Some children jump straight in, others take their time - and both are perfectly okay here.

This space encourages confidence, independence, and emotional regulation - all through play 🌈

We love seeing little ones find their favourites and feel truly comfortable in the space.
