🍂 Hello September – and hello again!

After a lovely summer break, I was back in clinic this morning! I’m looking forward to getting back into the rhythm of September.

There’s something about this time of year that always feels like a natural reset. But a fresh start doesn’t have to be setting huge goals, overhauling everything or doing it perfectly – small steps all the way!

It’s something I’ve been asking myself, and my clients, today…

What would you like to do a little differently this autumn?

For me, September means being back doing the work I love – supporting people with their health, wellbeing and behaviour change, both in clinic and online.

I’m also now offering Saturday morning appointments, alongside my Wednesday clinic and online sessions.

Here’s to small steps, fresh routines and a new season. 🍂

There’s a lot of noise at the moment about GLP-1 medications and weight loss.

In my work, I’m supporting more and more people who are using these medications - and alongside the physical changes, many are thinking about what it means to make changes that actually feel sustainable.

These medications can be an incredible tool to support change - but even when appetite shifts, habits, routines and the emotional side of eating don’t just disappear overnight.

That’s often where the focus gently shifts towards things like habit change, tuning into what your body needs, navigating emotional eating, and developing self-compassion.

Over the next few posts, I’ll be sharing some reflections on this - particularly around the psychological side of change.

If you’re navigating this yourself and would like some support, I’m based at the Reigate Wellbeing Centre and offer both in-person and online sessions. You’re very welcome to get in touch - link in bio to book a free 15 min call 🤍

This week I’ve been thinking about connections.

At a conference earlier this week, I heard about the “wood wide web” from the Mother Tree Project - the hidden networks beneath forests where trees communicate and support one another.

It reminded me how much of what shapes us sits beneath the surface.

Over the past few days I’ve reconnected with old colleagues and made new connections too. When you’re surrounded by like-minded people, those conversations come easily.

But it’s not always so simple when you’re trying to explain what you do to people working in completely different worlds.

In my work with people, that’s often where we start - slowing things down and making sense of what’s going on underneath.

Because understanding the connections is often where change begins 🤍

Also realising I seem to post quite a lot of photos of trees… perhaps there’s a theme there I didn’t realise I had! 🌳

It feels like it’s been raining forever 🌧️

Yesterday’s sunshine gave me so much hope for spring - my favourite season 🌷

Today is grey again.

But rest is part of the rhythm too.
Not every day has to be bright to be meaningful.

Rainy Sundays count 🤍

Progress doesn’t have to look finished.

Change rarely happens in big leaps.
It happens in small, repeatable steps.

Habits don’t need to be perfect to be working.
They don’t need to look tidy or complete.

What matters most is consistency - even when things feel messy, unfinished, or imperfect.

One step is enough for today 🤍

Habit stacking is about working with habits you already have.

The key is to start with something that’s already a constant in your life - something you do on autopilot - and gently add a new habit alongside it.

Coffee is a good example for many people.

You wake up.
You make a cup.
It happens without much thought.

Rather than trying to build something new from scratch, habit stacking works by placing a small change next to something that’s already established.

You’re stacking onto habits your brain already knows how to do.

That’s often what makes change feel more manageable 🤍

Change often works best when it happens within habits you already have.

Take something familiar, like coffee.

You wake up.
You make a cup.
It helps you feel more awake.

That simple pattern - cue, response, outcome - is why habits stick and often run on autopilot.

It’s also where small, manageable change often begins:
by making gentle adjustments alongside habits that are already well established.

I’ll share more about this next 🤍
