WHAT A WEEK FOR FITNESS RUSH! πŸ’™

It’s been one of those weeks that really shows the variety of what we do at Fitness Rush β€” from a brand-new mobile facility and community events to qualifications, assessments and plans for our Old Hurst facility.

🚐 Monday 17th – Liam and Catherine jumped on the train to Sevenoaks to collect our brand-new mobile fitness facility from Masters Promotional Vehicles
A huge milestone for Fitness Rush and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for our community delivery.

πŸ’ͺ Tuesday 18th – Our Original mobile facility headed to Peterborough, visiting new and familiar faces at the Light Project and Fairview Court after our two-week summer break.

⚑ Wednesday 19th – A fantastic turnout in Sutton for the Youth Fusion Day, brilliantly organised by East Cambridgeshire District Council. From Sutton, we headed over to Soham to deliver tailored exercise with local young people.

πŸŽ“ Thursday 20th – Back to Old Hurst for qualification assessments, with our Active IQ External Verifier joining us to review our delivery and assessment processes.

πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦ Friday 21st – We headed to Littleport for the Youth & Family Event, getting families and young people involved in physical activity and showing that fitness can be accessible, engaging and fun.

πŸ”¨ Saturday 22nd – No slowing down! Liam started preparations for the new-look Strength Room at our Old Hurst facility, as we continue investing in and improving the space for our members and clients.

Six days. Different locations. A new mobile facility. Community exercise. Youth engagement. Qualifications. Assessments. And improvements back at base.

And next week?

Meetings, preparations, community exercise, qualifications… and some exciting news to follow. πŸ‘€

Another busy week ahead for Fitness Rush! πŸ’™

What a day for community engagement! πŸ™ŒπŸ’™

We started in Sutton for the Youth Fusion Day, and once again it was brilliantly organised by East Cambridgeshire District Council.

There was a fantastic variety of activities and opportunities for families to get involved, have a go at something new and learn more about what’s happening in their local area. It was also great to see such strong support from local councillors and our MP. πŸ‘

Our reaction challenge certainly kept people competitive! ⚑️ Hundreds of people stepped up to test their reactions, but there could only be one winner…

πŸ† Malcolm Wood – an incredible 144 touches in just 60 seconds!

From Sutton, we headed over to Soham, where we finished the day delivering tailored exercise sessions for local young people. πŸ’ͺ

Different communities. Different needs. One goal β€” creating opportunities for people to engage, move, learn and thrive. πŸ’™

Tomorrow, it’s back to Old Hurst as we switch focus again and carry out qualification assessments. πŸ“šπŸ’ͺ

Another day showing just how varied life at Fitness Rush Community can be!

❀️ Today wasn't just about passing an assessment... it was about proving that inclusion is possible.

A few months ago, Courtney came to us with a dream of becoming a qualified personal trainer.

Courtney lives with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a degenerative eye condition that causes severe tunnel vision. Like many environments, gyms aren't traditionally designed with visually impaired people in mind.

Instead of asking Courtney to fit the environment, we asked ourselves...

"How can we change the environment to fit Courtney?" πŸ’™

Over the past few weeks we've been learning, adapting and seeing the gym from a completely different perspective. We developed our own vision impairment simulation goggles to help us better understand some of the challenges, and redesigned parts of our facility with numbered pathways, clearly marked stations, improved orientation points and other practical adaptations to create a more accessible training space.

And today...

πŸŽ‰ Courtney passed his Level 3 Personal Training Practical Assessment with flying colours! πŸŽ‰

His qualification is a fantastic achievement, but what makes today even more special is what we've all learned along the way.

Inclusion isn't about lowering standardsβ€”it's about removing unnecessary barriers so everyone has the opportunity to demonstrate their ability.

Courtney has shown incredible resilience, determination and professionalism throughout his journey, and we couldn't be prouder of what he has achieved. πŸ’ͺ

This is just the start. We'll continue improving our facilities and sharing what we learn so that more people living with disabilities can access careers in the fitness industry.

Congratulations, Courtney. Today you didn't just qualify as a personal trainerβ€”you've helped inspire change. β€οΈπŸ‘

Tomorrow we're hosting a Level 3 Practical Personal Training Assessment for one of our learners, Courtney. πŸ’ͺπŸ‘οΈ

Courtney lives with a degenerative eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, which severely limits his vision and results in tunnel vision.

We've worked with Courtney for some time, and throughout his journey I've been trying to better understand how we can support him to succeed as a personal trainer. ❀️

The reality is that most gyms aren't specifically designed with visually impaired people in mind... but why couldn't they be? πŸ€”

Today I created a pair of tunnel vision simulation goggles to help me gain a better understanding of some of the challenges and opportunities experienced by people with visual impairments.

First and foremost, I am in awe of individuals living with conditions like this and the determination they show every single day. πŸ™Œ

While this simulation can never fully replicate Courtney's experience, it has given me a valuable starting point to identify practical changes we can make to create a more inclusive environment. 🌍

Our goal isn't just to help Courtney pass his qualificationβ€”it's to help ensure the fitness industry becomes a place where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. πŸ’™

Good luck tomorrow, Courtney! We're all behind you. πŸ‘

πŸ‘€ P.S. Take a look at the image and comment below with what you can see inside the circle. We'd love to compare how everyone experiences it!

πŸ…πŸ’™ Yesterday marked a huge milestone for us – our very first Inclusive Sports Day! πŸŽ‰

⚑ We created an event that challenged participants in a variety of ways, testing their:
🟒 Reactions
βš–οΈ Balance
πŸ’ͺ Strength
πŸƒ Endurance
🀝 Teamwork

πŸ† The day wasn't about who could run the fastest or jump the highest. It was about mental attitude, resilience, determination, and perseverance. It was about showing that everyone has strengths and that fitness comes in many different forms. 🌟

😊 Seeing the smiles, encouragement, and achievements throughout the day reminded us why we do what we do.

πŸš€ This was the first of many, and we can't wait to bring more Inclusive Sports Days to schools and communities across the region.

πŸ“© If you're an alternative provision, SEND school, or any education setting looking to deliver an Inclusive Sports Day that celebrates every young person's abilities, we'd love to hear from you.

β˜€οΈ Another busy week comes to an end, and what a week it's been!

πŸ₯΅ Despite one of the hottest Junes on record, our Old Hurst Wellbeing Hub stayed cool and comfortable, allowing sessions to continue without interruption.

πŸ… Monday saw us continuing preparations with our partner schools for our upcoming SEND Sports Day in July, helping young people build confidence, skills and teamwork ahead of the big event.

πŸ’š Throughout the week, our tailored exercise sessions continued at the Light Project and Fairview Court in Peterborough, where we're seeing some truly inspiring pathways being created for local people.

🀝 Wednesday was all about partnerships, as we showcased our flagship mobile facility at a South Cambridgeshire Council wellbeing initiative in Over.

🏫 Thursday took us to Stanground Academy, where we explored exciting opportunities to work together and support even more young people.

βœ… Behind the scenes, we've also been ticking off some major milestones...

🚐 Our newest mobile education and wellbeing vehicle has now passed its road safety inspection and is just 2 weeks away from completion!

πŸ“Once complete, we'll be expanding our work across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, bringing health, wellbeing, education and opportunity to even more communities.

πŸŽ‰ This weekend, we'll be at the Cambourne Big Weekender with our flagship mobile fitness facility, so if you're attending, come and say hello! We'd love to show you around the vehicle and chat about what we do. πŸ‘‹

πŸ‘€ Watch this space... we've got some exciting announcements coming soon!

πŸš”πŸ€ Today we had the privilege of visiting Cambridgeshire Police HQ to meet Chief Constable Simon Megicks and Detective Chief Inspector Denise Harper.

We discussed something we are incredibly passionate about at Fitness Rush Community CIC – prevention. πŸ’™

For several years, we have been supporting probationers, homeless individuals and ex-offenders through tailored exercise, qualifications and positive progression opportunities. πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈπŸ“šπŸ™Œ

More recently, our focus has expanded towards early intervention with young people experiencing antisocial behaviour challenges. 🚸⚑ By providing positive role models, structure, purpose and achievable goals, we believe we can help change future outcomes before individuals become involved in the criminal justice system.

The reality is that prevention is not only better for individuals and communities, but it also represents significant savings for public services. πŸ’·πŸ“‰

As our work continues to grow, with opportunities to support people at every stage of their journey – including potential future work within prisons – we remain committed to creating pathways towards healthier, happier and more productive lives. 🌱πŸ’ͺ✨

A huge thank you to Chief Constable Simon Megicks and Detective Chief Inspector Denise Harper for taking the time to meet with us and explore how we can work together to make a lasting difference across Cambridgeshire. πŸ™

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’™πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Two women. Two incredible journeys. One powerful purpose. πŸ’™πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ’™

This October, Emma and Catherine will be lacing up their running shoes πŸ‘Ÿ to take on the Great Eastern Run Half Marathon in support of The Light Project Peterborough. πŸ…βœ¨

For Emma, this challenge represents a new beginning πŸŒ…. After experiencing homelessness for much of her life, she's now choosing hope, purpose and a future filled with possibility. 🌻πŸ’ͺ

For Catherine, who has also experienced homelessness, this run celebrates strength and resilience. β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή This year marks three years of sobriety πŸŽ‰πŸ™Œ – a testament to the fact that change is possible, no matter where your journey begins.

Together, they're running to raise awareness of homelessness πŸ πŸ’”, challenge the stigma 🚫🏷️, and show others that with the right support, belief and purpose, there can be a brighter future ahead. 🌈✨

Every mile they run sends a message:

πŸ’™ You are not defined by your past.
πŸ’› Recovery is possible.
πŸ’™ Hope changes lives.
πŸ’› Everyone deserves a second chance.
πŸ’™ Purpose can transform the future.

If their story has touched your heart, please consider sponsoring them. Every donation will help The Light Project Peterborough continue supporting people facing homelessness and hardship within our community. 🀝🏠✨
