These flowers were with me on Sunday at the Summer Solstice Workshop, just scattered around my mat, because roses were used as part of the celebrations amongst ancient civilisations. Rose garlands would be made to wear in people's hair and to form ceremonial parades. On Sunday after lying on the grass in the hot sun for 2 hours, the roses were dying and very withered. Somehow I've fully revived them. ♥️

I shared a most magical Summer Yoga Workshop this morning in the beautiful, peaceful grounds of Ravenstone Hall. The physical practise, the breathwork, the mindfulness, the meditation, and the deep relaxation, encouraged everyone to connect with the natural world, and the spirit and energy of Summer. We opened our hearts to the soft, gentle pace of nature and how it can restore and revive. We also recognised the strength of nature, and how it can build resilience and endurance. Since time memorial this day has been celebrated, ancient civilizations held community ceremonies to mark the occasion, it was so significant. The Sun was a deity, nature was worshipped amongst communities as it held such incredible value. The oak tree in Celtic times was known as the 'King of the Forest,' and the strength of the oak is at its peak at the Solstice. We lay beneath the canopy of the 'King of the Forest' for the deep relaxation/visualisation at the end of the practise, and reflected on our lives so far this year, and how we can make changes to build strength and resilience for the next half of the year, taking inspiration from the longevity and endurance of the mighty oak.

I could tell, despite the heat, that everyone felt more alive, more invigorated and inspired to make the most of the Summer months ahead. Everyone looked as though they were radiating and glowing, and their 'inner sun' and 'inner spark' was awakened and ignited.

Thank you to Ravenstone Hall, the peaceful grounds, the wildlife, the beautiful woodland and lake, and thank you mostly to the Sun, I'm sure it felt thoroughly worshipped. A very memorable day indeed. 🙏♥️🌞🧘‍♂️

Solstice Blessings and Happy International Day. 🙏🌍🧘‍♂️♥️

It's a day to celebrate life, let's face it, the Sun has been sustaining life here for billions of years, all life is from that gigantic ball of fire burning above. The United Nations in 2014 wanted to start celebrating yoga globally and recognise its significance. Ever since that day people have come together to spread the benefits of yoga, making healthier choices for their own well being and for the well being of the globe as a whole. The wisdom of yoga is that everything is inter-connected and inter-related and we should start making healthier choices for ourselves, nature and the planet at large. Our strength and resilience comes from remembering we too, are nature, we are all natural beings. Happy International Yoga Day everyone, let's celebrate life, yoga, healthier choices, the Sun, and the arrival of Summer and all that it brings. 🌍🙏🧘‍♂️♥️🌞

Excited for the Solstice and International Yoga Day tomorrow. ♥️🌞🌍🧘‍♂️

We gathered last Friday, 'Beneath the Canopy' to fully embrace the healing energy of Mother Nature. Every yoga practise has a healing quality but when practising yoga outside it helps you to have a deeper sense of nourishment. We had our own field, our own oak tree, woods in the background, and the only sound was a cockerel in the distance who for some reason thought it was dawn. 🤣 We opened our hearts to the healing qualities of the natural world, the electrons, the microbes, the phytoncides which all help to soothe our nervous system, boost our immune system and improve our outlook and mood. There is a scientific exchange of energy between us and the natural world which simply helps us to heal. Here are some of the comments I've received from my yogis this week about the practise.

'I slept through 9 hours, unheard of'
'I can't stop thinking about the oak tree'
'It was absolutely wonderful, a practise I'll never forget'
'The best bit was lying perfectly still, feeling so relaxed, just looking up at the tree canopy'
'A special night, I want to do it again'
'When is the next one, I want to bring my friends' ♥️

I'm still smiling about it. We most definitely felt the healing power of Mother Nature. It was so simple, so natural, no fuss, no music, just the pure healing energy of the natural world, and we all most definitely felt it. Thank you Folk On The Farm, that was the first of many. 🙏🌳

My next practise, 'Beneath the Canopy' will be in the woods at Ravenstone Hall, this Friday 29th May. Please message me if you would like to experience this. 🙏🌳

CHAIR YOGIS, I've decided to cancel the class tomorrow with it being 32 degrees as I'm aware some of you may struggle in the heat. I know it's a shame but I think it's wise. See you next week for sure. 😊🙏

🌳Woodland Yoga, Beneath The Canopy🌳

🌳Friday 29th May
🌳7pm - 8.30pm
🌳Ravenstone Hall, Ashby Road, LE67 2AA
🌳 £18

My second outdoor yoga event this year will take place in the woods behind the lake within the grounds of Ravenstone Hall, a beautiful Grade 11 listed building set within acres of land. I've found a perfect spot within the wood, which has an old rhododendron tree, and it will be perfect as a back drop, it looks like a sculpture that we can gather around. I'm thinking a few lanterns would look good hanging from it. 💚

This wood is very peaceful, tucked away, a perfect retreat at the end of the week. We will be gathering 'beneath the canopy' to connect with the healing energy of Mother Nature. Being outdoors has so many beneficial effects for our physical and mental health, and when practising yoga outside it gives you a deeper feeling of nourishment. It leaves you feeling lighter, more open-hearted, softer, a real sense of 'all is well with the world.' These outdoor events lower cortisol levels, blood pressure, soothe the nervous system, strengthen your immunity, and improve your overall mood and outlook. A good night's sleep is guaranteed afterwards too. 😊

My sessions inspire you to fully connect with the life, spirit and energy of the wood, and the natural world at large. The yoga sequences, breathing practices and narrative I use, encourage you to fully immerse yourself into the sights, sounds, and smells of woodland, so that you relax so deeply and feel a part of the natural world itself. Nature is not just a place to visit, it is our home.

If you would like to join me this Friday, 29th May, 'beneath the canopy,' then you can either message me directly or email [email protected]. I will send you details as to how to book in and reserve your space. 😊

🌳YOGA BENEATH THE CANOPY 🌳

🌳Friday, 22nd May
🌳7pm - 8.15pm
🌳Bushwell Farm, Newbold Coleorton, LE67 8JH
🌳£12

If anyone would like to join me this Friday, 22nd May, for 'Yoga Beneath the Canopy' of this beautiful oak tree situated at Folk On The Farm Newbold Coleorton, please let me know.🌳 I'm taking advantage of the warm weather on Friday and when I saw this tree today I fell in love with it. The session will start at 7pm and finish at 8.15pm. It will be a mindful session to help you to unwind and ground yourself ready for the Bank Holiday weekend. The main purpose will be to connect with the natural world, the peace, the serenity and feel the joy of sunlight on your skin as we move, breathe and relax together. 🌞 The healing qualities of doing yoga outside are so powerful, and I will end the session with a yoga Nidra 'yogic sleep' where you can just listen to my guiding voice and relax deeply. I promise you, you will go home and sleep soundly. Please message me if you would like to sit beneath the boughs of this beautiful oak, and I will send full details of the location, it's very easy to find. 🙏 😊
