This week marks National Volunteers Week, where we recognise and celebrate the wonderful work that our volunteers do to help make the Community Transport Service run as efficiently as it does.

We appreciate each and every one of our volunteer drivers and minibus assistants, they really are the lifeline of this service.

At the weekend, we hosted our annual Summer BBQ at The Innes Bar, as a thank you to our volunteers. 35 of them joined Fiona and Linda for a lovely afternoon of food, drinks and blethers.

We had two of our volunteers celebrate "BIG" birthdays this month and a large chocolate cake was purchased for them to jointly blow out the candles!

We also took this opportunity to say goodbye to two of our volunteers; Duncan who has driven for us for the past 9 years and Brigitta who has been with us for the past 4 years. Duncan has decided to hang up his PFW keys, but is still a regular visitor to the office, and Brigitta is moving to pastures new. We would like to pass on our thanks to them both and wish them every happiness as they leave the PFW Community Transport Team.

Lastly, we would like to give a huge thank you to Craig, Collette and the entire team at The Innes Bar for another successful Summer BBQ and for their amazing generosity, it is very much appreciated. We are already looking forward to Summer 2027! See you guys' next year!

There was a festive atmosphere up at Highview Care Home in Inverness as staff and residents welcomed the team of cyclists who have been raising money for the Barchester Foundation - one of the many foundations who awarded grants to PFW last year.

One of our volunteers, Roy Cameron, is undertaking a 5K run in Inverness next March. Raising funds and awareness for Prostate Cancer.

If you wish to donate to Roy's fundraising, please click on the link below.

This is Roy's reasons behind signing up for the run;

"In July 2025, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and from that point I started my treatment journey. This consisted of 20 slots of radiotherapy, 5 days a week including Christmas and New Year. Iโ€™ll not lie; this was not an easy time.
All of the medical team, I have had the experience of meeting, have been such great support and explained everything to me in simple terms to help me deal with what was coming up.
With this in mind, I wanted to give something back to help others that may be in my situation. I am running the 5k, next March, and would be extremely grateful if you could support me in fundraising. All donations go to help the research for prostate cancer which is developing at a fast rate.
And on a final note, to all you men out there, if you are in any doubt, go get yourself checked out. One check is better than no check!!!"

Help Roy Cameron raise money to support Prostate Cancer Research
