Elsie Normington Foundation We exist to promote services and support to children and adults with learning disabilities in Highland We need your help to raise £4 million for this project.

Elsie Normington Foundation plans to build a specialist play centre, respite wing, community coffee shop and some supported housing for children and young adults with learning disabilities in Inverness. You can donate by visiting www.gofundme.com/the-haven-appeal

Young people need relevant facilities and services while parents need to be supported appropriately in their caring role. There are 1679 children with additional needs in school and 722 children who are registered disabled in Highland.

Some families spend more time planning around accessibility than actually getting the chance to relax.

The Haven Suites were designed with care, experience and accessibility at their heart.

Our fully accessible, self-contained overnight suites in Inverness provide short breaks for children and young people up to age 30 with multiple and complex needs. A space designed to feel calm, welcoming and supportive from the very first conversation through to arrival.

From practical accessibility features and specialist equipment, to familiar comforts close at hand, every detail has been carefully considered to help families feel more at ease during their stay.

Because everyone deserves the chance to rest, recharge and spend quality time together in a space that understands their needs.

Spending time away from home isn’t always easy when you’re caring for a child with complex needs.

That’s why the Andrew Suite was created to give families a comfortable space where things can feel a little more settled ✨

Located within the Haven Centre in Inverness, it’s a self-contained suite designed for short stays, whether you’re visiting for appointments, respite or simply some time together.

Inside you’ll find the everyday comforts that help make a stay easier, including a fully equipped kitchen, a cosy living space, WiFi, washing facilities and a few small touches like tea and coffee ready when you arrive.

Please note that the Andrew Suite is only accessible via stairs, so is best suited to guests who can manage these independently or with support.

Sometimes what’s needed most is simply the right space to support the care being given.

The Sarah Suite has been designed as a comfortable, self-contained space for respite and awake care, providing a calm environment for one-to-one support at the Haven Centre. 🩷

Inside, you’ll find everyday comforts that help make time here feel settled and relaxed, including a small kitchen for preparing meals, a welcoming living area, WiFi and a settee bed for carers staying overnight.

The suite can also be booked for daytime use, offering a supportive setting for encouraging and developing life skills.

Please note that the Sarah Suite is only accessible via stairs, so it is best suited to guests who can manage these independently or with support.

The Big Spring Sing takes place at Smithton Church, bringing together local choirs and performers for a fantastic evening of music and community spirit in support of The Haven Centre.

The Haven Centre Café is a lovely space for small gatherings, meetings or informal get-togethers here in Inverness.

Whether it’s a catch-up with friends, a community group meeting, or a small celebration, the café offers a relaxed, inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome.
