In our new series "Wellness Within", we invite you to meet the therapists at Highland Wellness Centre, learn more about the heart behind their work and the modality they offer. This week we are speaking to Emma Versteeg, our BodyTalk Therapist.

“Can you choose 3 words to describe your type of therapy?"
"Profound, gentle, individualised".

“In a sentence can you tell us what led you to studying your therapy?”
“I had reached the end of the road in terms of finding an explanation for chronic illness and was looking for something that looked deep into root causes; my life transformed and I wanted to learn the modalities to share”.

"What is the best thing about BodyTalk in your opinion?"
"The fact that we are listening to the body and its story. Everything that has ever happened to us is remembered by the body, if not consciously, so there is tremendous value in hearing what it has to say”.

“What simple, daily practice would you recommend to clients?”
“The BodyTalk Cortices Brain Balancing Technique. It's simple, efficient and life-changing”.

“What is something about you that not many people know?”
“I tend to be fairly squeamish but somehow managed to get a qualification in phlebotomy!”.

Some limited spaces available with Helen. 💫

If you’re a high functioning woman in midlife I know some things about you 🌊
You get things done. Always.
You show up for everyone else.
You look fine from the outside.
But inside you’re frazzled, exhausted and quietly wondering how long you can keep this up.
You don’t need someone to tell you to do more.
You need someone to help you build a life that actually fits you.
That’s exactly what I do.
I currently have a small number of in-person therapy spaces in Inverness 🏔️
If this landed — DM me or click the link in bio.
Let’s talk. Hashtags:

💚 MEET HELEN MCGILLIVRAY, BABCP ACCREDITED CBT THERAPIST. 💚

In our new series "Wellness Within", we invite you to meet the therapists at Highland Wellness Centre, learn more about the heart behind their work and the modality they offer. This week we are speaking to Helen McGillivray, our CBT Therapist.

“Can you choose 3 words to describe your type of therapy?"
“Compassionate, practical, empowering”.

“In a sentence can you tell us what led you to studying your therapy?”
“I was drawn to therapy after seeing women in my own family struggle with their mental health in ways that were rarely spoken about. It sparked a deep curiosity in me about what makes us tick, and why we behave in ways that do — or don’t — serve us, and that curiosity has stayed with me throughout my work”.

"What is the best thing about CBT & Acceptance and commitment therapy ACT in your opinion?"
“The best thing is that it helps people stop fighting themselves and start building a kinder, braver relationship with their thoughts, feelings, and life”.

“What simple, daily practice would you recommend to clients?”
“Take a moment each day to stop and ask yourself: What do I need right now? That tiny pause can change a lot”.

“What is something about you that not many people know?”
“I’ve climbed Mount Toubkal in Morocco and Triglav in Slovenia — I’m drawn to things that challenge me, stretch me, and remind me what I’m capable of”.
