The vision of Community Sauna Highland CIC is to provide community-based saunas across Highland, to nurture community health and wellbeing.

Starting with a sauna in Inverness for heat, cold and rest!

"Just one more round", who else is always reluctant to leave the peaceful heat of the sauna? This is Watershed Sauna at Findhorn , it's a wonderful place to see how sauna and nature fit together. Walking from the sea to the sauna bench is an intense and restorative experience. Our Sauna in Bellfield Park will have seats for 20 or so people and an entrance porch to protect the heat in the sauna as people come and go. We hope people will sauna all year round, when the days are frosty and cold and when they are toasty and warm too. Please do share and follow!

Cherry Blossom has arrived and it's beautiful in the park. Warm weather is a great time to sauna, it is actually really refreshing to sit on the sauna bench and then enjoy the warmth of the sun.

Walking through Birch Wood down to Loch Alvie, just outside Aviemore to Sauna Cairngorms. Birch is a good friend to sauna culture and Linda's sauna couldn't be better placed, nestled into the loch side. https://saunacairngorms.co.uk

This Cherry Tree will sit by the gate onto the Sauna site in Bellfield Park, a way marker into a place for rest and relaxation. Just like we wait for these blossoms to bloom, we can't wait to get started on the sauna build this year. We have been working quietly over Winter on the design and development, getting everything ready to Spring into action. More news to come, please share and follow.

This is a picture of a community sauna along a cross country biking route in central Finland, visited by our team last summer. Built and run by volunteers and open to anyone. Some interesting styling of the exterior - our plans for the aesthetics are very different but similarly using natural materials!

Congratulations to Soul Water Sauna for opening a new site in Dalkeith Country Park! It looks so inviting, and inspires us to think about how to create a nice calming space with warm lights, natural surfaces and thoughtful layout.

Our team has been to visit different kinds of community sauna set ups, partly to inform our planning process and always for our own interest and enjoyment. Kuuma Sauna is a community sauna in Amsterdam, with multiple sites accross the city - the picture is of a lovely sauna in a public park. Kuuma means 'hot' in Finnish which is essential for good löyly (steam)!

Here are two pictures to show our planning phase. We are mapping out the layout of the sauna site in the park and on paper. These then go to planning for their review and edits. This is a really detailed and careful part of our process and we can’t wait to share the final plans when we have them!
