Wax is a usual contributor of hearing loss, however, occasionally I get to see some weird and some unusual things in clinic such as the images below.

If you have a friend that wants to stab you playfully with a pencil with a rubber on the end, please make sure they miss you completely as this was a bullseye and potentially could have taken this persons hearing away for life.

A patient with a foreign body like this will always be sent to the hospital for it to be assessed and removed by a doctor, as there could be underlying structural damage to the ear.

Thankfully, I suspect the patient was ok.
