The photograph beneath may seem a bit incredulous for anyone who is fit and healthy but this is the reality many chronically ill women will have to face while trying to keep all the balls they are juggling up in the air without dropping them, or making things even worse for themselves on the health front.

This scenario was also true for me during the first 2 years of my chronic fatigue recovery in 2015, so I am grateful that I had the means to hire some help at home when my body was refusing to cooperate and heal initially.

This is also the main reasons why I am now so passionate about helping other women experiencing chronic fatigue or other chronic issues resulting in burnout tap into various natural modalities that can put them on a road to recovery with a road map and a support of someone who has already been there, done it and got the t-shirt - so to speak.

As you may have seen from my previous posts, one of the newest modalities I incorporated into my own, as well as recommended wellness regimes for clients, is based on essential oils and food based supplements from a wonderful company called doTERRA, for which I have been a wellness advocate since the summer of 2024.

I documented my own progress with doTERRA products in some of previous posts, as well as posted a few testimonials from clients and friends I recommended them to. But as a relative doTERRA newbie, I still get blown away with how powerful the active substances contained in the oils and the super nutrients in the supplements truly are, even despite the fact I have been a nutritionist for over 20 years and have both used, as well as recommended, a number of different products from several highly reputable companies during that period.

One of the things that I love about doTERRA, is their commitment to ongoing education program, both for clients as well as advocates themselves. And that is because it is often through hearing about other people's healing journeys and the protocols they used to help themselves get there that we learn the most - and are then able to pass that knowledge to others in similar circumstances.

Last Saturday, I attended a small online doTERRA summit for a few hours. And I was really inspired by a story of someone with a similar health challenge to the one I experienced in the past, who managed to turn around over 20 years of extremely poor health and massive reliance on all sorts of medication for symptomatic only relief, to a brand new script - in which she has now been able to start regaining control over and enjoyment of her life as a result of having tried and incorporated doTERRA's essential oils and supplements into her lifestyle.

And no, it wasn't a silver bullet, just in case you wondered, but a steady and very gradual return to the state of wellbeing which she previously lost all hope to being able to ever experience again. Because chronic disease, even though so poorly understood, doesn't always have to mean a lifetime of struggle.

If you are curious to know more, why not send me a message and arrange a Zoom chat at a time that would suit us both.

I thought I would write a quick update for those of you who are following me on this page.

Why I am still active on my professional page and post content related to my natural health related work and education about it on here, majority of my posting tends to be either in my private Facebook group - Reclaim Your Radiance! With Barbara Wicks - on my LinkedIn profile, or directly on my website. And a lot of it is to do with visibility - or more precisely lack of it - in my current location, which is due to various FB algorithm changes in the last few years.

I have had a lot of very interesting developments in my natural health journey over the last two years, so if you are interested to learn more about them, or find an inspiring community of like-minded health conscious women to join, why not look at the links in comments section and join me in some of my other dwelling places on the net.

I am really looking forward to welcoming you there!

This is my latest blog, which I shared on my LinkedIn profile today to celebrate International Left Handers Day.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

It's International Left Handers Day today, and as someone who has been a proud and loud leftie for many years, I wanted to shout out to all the fellow lefties out there in the world trying to make sense of the predominantly right-handed world that we live in.

Being left-handed in childhood wasn't easy, especially when it came to schooling and writing, as I would often leave a trail of smudged pen ink both on paper and on my fingers after writing for a while. I believe it's a very common challenge that many lefties have to put up with on regular basis.

Luckily, neither my school nor my parents tried to force me to start writing with my right hand instead, for which I am grateful, but I also realize that not everybody was so lucky.

For those of us who were coerced or shamed into writing or doing things with their right hand, I believe this could have marked the beginning of an internalized, subconscious belief that "I am not good enough as I am," which might have then played out in other areas of our lives.

Another really challenging activity for me was knitting, which I struggled to learn from my right-handed mother, and which I finally managed to get a grip of somehow, even though I am not convinced that I am doing it in the same way a right-handed person would.

Fortunately, as the awareness and acceptance of individual differences between people grows, left-handedness is not being seen so much as a stigma anymore, but rather a unique characteristic which gives the individuals gifted with it a different way of seeing and dealing with the world around them.

Let's examine some facts about left-handedness, including some of the challenges it presents, prejudices against it, but also potential gifts it can offer us.

Benefits of Being Left-Handed:

- Creative edge: Studies suggest that left-handed people may have an advantage in divergent thinking, a key component of creativity.

- Athletic prowess: In many sports, left-handedness can be a strategic advantage, particularly in tennis, boxing, and baseball.

- Multitasking abilities: Some research indicates that left-handed individuals may be better at multitasking due to increased connectivity between brain hemispheres.

- Adaptability: Navigating a right-handed world fosters problem-solving skills and adaptability from an early age.

- Leadership potential: A disproportionate number of recent U.S. presidents have been left-handed, suggesting a possible link to leadership qualities.

Superstitions and Prejudices Against Left-Handed:

Despite these advantages, left-handedness has been subject to numerous superstitions and prejudices throughout history:

- The "sinister" association: The Latin word for "left" is "sinister," which has contributed to negative connotations.

- Religious stigma: Some religious texts associate the left hand with evil or impurity.

- Educational discrimination: In the past, left-handed children were often forced to write with their right hand, a practice that can cause psychological distress.

- Cultural taboos: In some cultures, using the left hand for eating or gesturing is considered impolite or unclean.

- Witchcraft accusations: In medieval times, left-handedness was sometimes associated with witchcraft or demonic possession.

While these superstitions may seem archaic, their legacy can still be felt in subtle ways today. So it's crucial to recognize and celebrate the diversity of human traits, including handedness.

Potential Disadvantages of Being Left-Handed:

While there are many advantages to being left-handed, it's important to acknowledge some challenges that lefties may face:

- Ergonomic challenges: Many everyday tools and objects are designed for right-handed use, from scissors and can openers to computer mice and musical instruments. This can lead to discomfort or difficulty in using these items efficiently.

- Increased accident risk: Some studies suggest that left-handed people may be slightly more prone to accidents, possibly due to living in a world designed for right-handed individuals.

- Educational challenges: Despite improvements, some educational systems may still not fully accommodate left-handed students, particularly in writing instruction or seating arrangements.

- Sports disadvantages: While left-handedness can be an advantage in some sports, it can be a disadvantage in others, particularly in team sports where strategies are often designed with right-handed players in mind.

- Social awkwardness: In some social situations, such as formal dining, lefties may feel self-conscious or struggle with etiquette designed for right-handed individuals.

- Limited product choices: Left-handed versions of products are often more expensive or harder to find, limiting choices for lefties in various areas.

It's important to remember that many of these disadvantages are the result of a world designed primarily for right-handed individuals rather than inherent problems with left-handedness itself.

As awareness grows, many of these issues are being addressed through better design and increased accommodation for left-handed individuals.

In conclusion, being left-handed comes with its own set of advantages that are worth celebrating. As we continue to debunk myths and overcome prejudices, we can create a more inclusive world that appreciates the unique perspectives and abilities of left-handed individuals.

Are You Lazy And Unmotivated Or Are You Suffering With Undiagnosed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

As someone who lost a year of life to staying in bed with FATIGUE, MUSCLE PAIN, DEPRESSION and COMPLETE BRAIN FOG back in 2015, I can relate to and have empathy for anyone suffering with seemingly unrelated health problems, which can make effective day to day functioning impossible.

My problems started after 3 years of severe emotional stress and 2 viral infections in 2014 – both factors being common causes for the onset of chronic fatigue in many people.

Thanks to my training in nutrition and holistic health and perseverance with emotional healing over the years, I am happy to say that I have managed to heal CFS and am about 80 percent recovered now, with some relapses still happening occasionally, but being very rare in general.

So What Is Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / CFS?

The name itself has been banded around so much over the last few years, yet I still feel like many people don’t fully understand the implications of what is involved in it.

Typically, a diagnosis of chronic fatigue might be considered:
In a person with SEVERE FATIGUE THAT PERSISTS OR RELAPSES FOR 6 MONTHS AND 4 OF THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS ALSO PRESENT:

➡️ impaired memory or concentration
➡️ multi joint pain
➡️ sore throat
➡️ new headaches
➡️ tender cervical or axillary nodes
➡️ unrefreshing sleep
➡️ muscle pain
➡️ post-exertional malaise

The fatigue is severe, of new or definite onset and:
➡️ is not alleviated by rest
➡️ results in substantial reduction in occupational, educational or personal activities

CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE will often tell us that we can only manage and minimise the symptoms of chronic fatigue at best
⬇️
by using lifestyle modifications and stress reduction as the main tools, as there is no known medication to take that would effectively get rid of the symptoms altogether.

HOLISTIC APPROACHES, on the other hand, tend to be more successful in bringing about lasting improvement, as they will most likely also include and address factors such as:

⭐ diet – including potential food allergies and nutritional deficiencies
⭐ gut imbalances and parasitic infections
⭐ potential hormonal imbalances
⭐ lowered immunity
⭐ environmental factors
⭐ emotional stressors

If unaddressed, all of the factors above can be contributing to the worsening of chronic fatigue at times, or people suffering with it not being able to heal and recover at all.

If you:

➡️ recognise yourself in the description above
➡️ would like to know how my 3 months health coaching programme using the Reclaim Your Radiance With Barbara method could help you start addressing some of those root causes of persistent and unrelenting tiredness, whether it is labelled as chronic fatigue or not

How To Stop People Pleasing And Live With Integrity In 4 Simple Steps

I came across the concept of “The 4 Agreements” by Don Miquel Ruiz quite a long time ago.

And I initially read the principles with interest, but also as another pearl of wisdom and common sense in the vast sea of personal development advice that is available to us these days.

However, for one reason or another, this information has been finding its way to me again recently on social media, so I decided to take another look, as I don’t believe there are such things as coincidences in life.

And very fittingly, those concepts appear to be speaking to my journey of a recovering people pleaser that I have been on for the last few years, as a reminder and an affirmation not to take everything to heart and so personally.

According to the publisher of the book, Janet Mills, “The Four Agreements replace conflict, drama, and needless emotional suffering with happiness, personal freedom, love, and respect for one’s “self” and all life.”

The teachings are derived from the principles going back to the ancient Mexican culture of Toltecs and they are based on the awareness of the illusory nature of reality and the realisation that what we perceive as reality, is merely collective, unconscious agreements of society.

With the bottom line of that philosophy being the fact that we don’t see life as such, but what we do see is our own filter system composed of beliefs, expectations, agreements and assumptions.
Those principles can be very useful to anyone aspiring to live their lives in a conscious, honourable and honest way.

However I also feel that for women who had had their physical or emotional health compromised in the past as a result of excessive people pleasing and inability to establish and maintain their own boundaries, they are essential signposts on how to conduct oneself in a way that is going to facilitate recovery and prevent future relapses.

So my suggestion would be to have a look at each of those agreements when you find a peaceful and uninterrupted moment to yourself and reflect on whether they are already present in your life right now.

And if they are not, have a think about how you could start implementing them in a way that would enhance your health, wellbeing, joy and ability to be unapologetically yourself, while also honouring other people’s life journeys.
