It's Diabetes Week this week (8–14 June), and while much of the focus is rightly on blood sugar management and physical health, hearing health is often overlooked.

Research has shown a link between diabetes and an increased risk of hearing loss, yet many people are unaware of the connection.

If you live with diabetes, we recommend paying attention to changes in your hearing and booking a hearing test every couple of years.

Tonight, former Ipswich Town and England captain Terry Butcher shares his deeply personal story in *Butcher: Invisible Wounds* on ITV4.

Many people will know Terry for his legendary football career, but this programme explores the challenges he has faced away from the pitch and the importance of speaking up when things aren't right.

We are proud to support Terry with his hearing care. Earlier this year, Terry was fitted with hearing aids by our Lead Audiologist Karen Finch, and we are delighted that he has chosen to share that he receives hearing care from All About Hearing.

Hearing loss can have a profound impact on confidence, communication, relationships and wellbeing, which is why seeking help is so important.

Most importantly, Terry's programme is a powerful reminder that nobody should struggle alone. If you're finding things difficult, please reach out and talk to someone. Help and support is available.

πŸ“Ί *Butcher: Invisible Wounds* airs tonight on ITV4 at 10.00pm.

Thank you, Terry, for helping to shine a light on such an important subject.

🎬 Have you heard about the new film Tuner?

The film follows a piano tuner named Niki, who lives with hyperacusis – a condition that causes everyday sounds to be perceived as uncomfortably loud or even painful. The character's extreme sensitivity to sound becomes a central part of the story.

While hyperacusis is relatively uncommon, it is a very real condition that can have a significant impact on daily life. Simple sounds such as clattering dishes, traffic noise, or even conversations can become overwhelming for those affected.

At All About Hearing, we regularly help people with a wide range of hearing concerns – not just hearing loss. If sounds seem excessively loud, uncomfortable or difficult to tolerate, it's worth seeking professional advice to understand what's happening and explore the support available.

Films like Tuner help shine a spotlight on hearing conditions that often go unnoticed, and that's something we welcome.

The film was released last week, but you can catch it at The Riverside Cinema in Woodbridge from 12th June.

Have you already seen it? We'd love to hear your thoughts.
