The weather doesn't look quite as settled next week, but that won't deter our walking group!

We will meet in Felixstowe on Wednesday 3rd June - for more details contact us on 01473 611011 or email [email protected]

Photo shows the last walk which took place on the Ickworth Estate. The group are walking along a woodland path surrounded by tall trees and dense greenery.
On the left side of the path there is a large fallen tree trunk that has been cut, adding a natural woodland feature to the scene.

We wanted to share another special moment from the Blindfold Bowls Charity event at Hollesley Bowls Club

Melissa, one of our members, was very keen to have a go and with a little bit of practice, she was hooked!

Video shows Melissa crouching down and bowling. The wood gently rolls towards the jack which is just a short distance away.
It is a lovely sunny evening, and the club has very neatly kept greens. There is a very relaxed atmosphere and everyone is supporting Melissa.

A huge thank you to everyone at Hollesley Bowls Club for hosting such a fantastic Blindfold Bowls charity event in support of Suffolk Sight.

We’re incredibly grateful to announce that together, with money taken on the night and a very generous donation, we raised an amazing £750!

Thank you to all the players, volunteers, supporters, and everyone who came along to make the evening such a success. From the fun on the green, to the bar, and not forgetting the food from Thegoatguysfoodtruck, it was a brilliant community event.

Your generosity and support will help make a real difference to people living with sight loss across Suffolk.

❓Did you know that almost 32,000 people were estimated to be living with sight loss in Suffolk in 2023?
❓Nationally, one person every six minutes begins to lose their sight.

All health and social care services are required to meet people’s needs for accessible information and care if they have a disability or sensory impairment.

👉Yet findings from our Your Care, Your Way campaign show these needs are still not being met consistently: https://healthwatchsuffolk.co.uk/your-care-your-way/visurvey/

Last year I had the pleasure of visiting Suffolk Sight to learn about the incredible support they provide for people living with sight loss across Suffolk. Guide dog Lea certainly stole the show.

Their Equipment and Information Day will be taking place on Tuesday 9 June, 10am to 2pm at The Key Café, Ipswich.

This free accessible event offers advice and support from organisations including Newmedica, Blind Veterans UK and Guide Dogs Suffolk.

A special thank you to Tracey Boxall and her team of bakers for raising money for Suffolk Sight.

Tracey held a bake sale at Swindon Village Hotel on 16th May.

We’re so grateful to everyone who baked, donated, bought cakes, and helped on the day.

They raised a grand total of £2500 which will be split between Suffolk Sight and CALM, another charity close to Tracey's heart.

Our share of the fundraising will support our emotional support counselling service.

The photos show the bake sale set up with tables full of homemade cakes, brownies, pastries, cookies, and sweet treats beautifully displayed for sale.

The team of volunteers are standing behind the tables smiling for the photo.

A big thank you to the Salvation Army Over 60’s group for inviting us along to speak about Suffolk Sight and the work we do.

It was a pleasure to meet everyone and share a few stories along the way.

We really appreciate the generous donation and your support too.

The photo shows the group seated in the community hall, chatting and waiting for the talk to begin. The room has a bright, welcoming feel, with chairs arranged in rows and colourful animal decorations on the folding wall panels, including elephants, giraffes, lions, and a tree scene.

A huge thank you to The Tollgate for hosting such a fantastic charity quiz night on Sunday!

We’re delighted to share that together we raised over £250 for our Looking Ahead Emotional Support Service.

Thank you to everyone who came along, took part, donated, and helped make the evening such a success.

Photos show some of the teams sitting at tables deep in thought, the Suffolk Sight volunteers taking a well earned rest, and lastly the winning team who kindly donated their prize money back to the charity.
