Crying is healing, it releases stored stress, emotions, feelings in the most effective way.
Honour the tears, they are not weakness 💧🙏🤍
A biochemist collected two types of tears from the same people: onion-triggered and sadness-triggered.
The onion tears were 98% water.
The emotional tears contained stress hormones, pain-killing endorphins, and hormones linked to chronic tension.
Your body wasn’t just releasing water.
It was excreting the chemical residue of suffering.
Crying isn’t weakness.
It’s detoxification.
Humans are the only species that produces emotional tears.
Emotional tears contain prolactin, ACTH (a primary stress marker), and leucine enkephalin—a natural opioid, the body’s own painkiller.
Crying activates the parasympathetic nervous system.
Heart rate slows.
The body shifts from fight-or-flight into recovery.
Crying that is interrupted—swallowed, suppressed, choked back—leaves the cycle incomplete.
The chemicals stay.
The body carries the unfinished business as tension, insomnia, headache.
“Stop crying,” “big boys don’t cry”—these are direct instructions to override the body’s primary stress-discharge mechanism.
By adulthood, most people have suppressed crying so completely they can’t access it even when the emotional load demands it.
The body still produces the stress hormones.
It just loses the exit route.
The sob is the body’s exhale.
The calm that follows is the parasympathetic system confirming the discharge was successful.
You were told crying means you’re falling apart.
The biology says the opposite.
Crying is proof the system is still working.
The body has been holding this for you. Let it finish. 😭
