I'm not one to really shout about my achievements.

To be honest I find it all a bit cringe and self absorbed.

But today I'm going to say F it and shout about it.

Today I ran a 10k that was really flipping tough!

I've just got back from a 2 week holiday so wasn't expecting miracles.

I kinda just wanted to get it done.

It was flipping hot and hilly and rather intimidating with all the running groups in their gear.

But my little group of runners we all flipping smashed it.

I'm so proud of myself, the girl who was convinced running wasn't for her.

And so proud of my crew (you know who you are).

We all finished with smiles on our faces.

Which is the point.

Don’t underestimate the power of a break.

In a world that glorifies being busy, taking a pause can feel unproductive. But sometimes, the most productive thing you can do is step away.

A break doesn’t mean giving up. It doesn’t mean you’re falling behind. It means you’re giving your mind, body, and creativity the space they need to recharge.

Some of the best ideas come after a walk. Some of the clearest decisions come after rest. Some of the strongest comebacks happen after a pause.

Rest is not a reward for finishing everything. It’s a tool that helps you keep going.

Take the break. Reset. Refocus. Return stronger.

Why is it as soon as people hear "diet" they change their food completely?

We don't suddenly have to eat sloppy crap to be in a calorie deficit or hit our protein goals.

I'm not an overnight oats fan, it's sloppy, and looks like baby food 🤢.

Here we have a seeded bagel, nut butter, a banana with a sprinkle of cinnamon 🄲.

21g Protein
Under 500 calories
Great for gut health

Routine over discipline, every time.

You can plan a routine, block it out, make it fit around real life—but real life still has other ideas.

This morning I had a run booked in and woke up do doggie p**p and sick everywhere.

Then a school assembly to attend.

So I had to miss my opportunity for exercise today.

The truth is, even with a routine, it’s hard when you’ve got responsibilities that don’t revolve around just you.

So when you see perfectly timed workouts and picture-perfect meals online, just remember: mums out here are juggling it all, doing their best to fit things in where they can, with as much routine—and as much bloody discipline—as we can muster.

Barry, mate… discipline hits different when you’ve been up at 3am with a screaming child, dragged through the school run chaos, worked a full day half-asleep, then come home to dinner, playtime, chores, and round two of parenting.Ā 

Somewhere in that madness, I’m supposed to magically have the energy for a workout?Ā 

Yeah… okay, Barry.Ā

This run? Fueled by pizza and beer the night before šŸ•šŸŗ

And I know what some of you are thinking: ā€œBut Michaela… aren’t you a nutrition coach and PT?ā€

Yep. I am.

And that’s exactly why I don’t label food as ā€œgoodā€ or ā€œbad,ā€ or ā€œcleanā€ and ā€œunclean.ā€

Your body doesn’t see food in labels—it sees energy, nutrients, and fuel.

Carbs from pizza? Stored as glycogen = energy for your run. Calories from beer? Still energy your body can use.

Is this how I’d fuel every run? No. But one meal doesn’t define your health, your progress, or your performance.

Consistency matters more than perfection.

Food is there to fuel you and to be enjoyed. Balance isn’t the opposite of results—it’s what supports them.
