A vascular occlusion of the lips is a rare but serious complication that can occur following dermal filler treatment when filler material inadvertently enters or compresses a blood vessel, reducing or blocking blood flow to the surrounding tissue. It can lead to tissue ischemia and skin necrosis. Prompt recognition and immediate management, including the administration of hyaluronidase.

However……please remember wearing SPF every day is important because it helps protect your skin from harmful UV rays that can cause sunburn, premature aging, and long-term damage such as skin cancer. Even on cloudy days, UV rays can still reach your skin and contribute to wrinkles, dark spots, and loss of elasticity over time. Using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF is a simple daily habit that keeps your skin healthier, safer, and looking younger for longer.

Do lip fillers hurt?

Lip fillers can cause some discomfort but the level of pain varies depending on the individual and the technique. Some people do not feel any pain at all.

1. A prescription-strength numbing cream is applied to the lips prior to the procedure for approximately 20 minutes. The fillers also contain lidocaine which further reduces pain.
2. During injection, you may experience pressure, pinching or a mild stinging sensation. Some people describe this as slightly uncomfortable rather than painful.
3. After injection, lips may feel tender, swollen or sore for a few days. Bruising is also common and can contribute to discomfort.
4. Individuals with higher sensitivity or anxiety about needles may find the procedure more uncomfortable. In my opinion, the build-up is more distressing than the actual procedure.

Unfortunately in England, any Tom, Dick or Harry can pick up a needle and start injecting.

If a procedure is cheap, there is a reason.
