WHAT AN EVENT & what a 24 hours at the Excel in London 😅

Can honestly say I had one of the best times with the Active IQ team!! & another unreal opportunity to talk about something I am SOOOO passionate about about.

My input for this panel was around the online space, misinformation, people selling things they aren’t qualified to.. but in particular my experience with working with younger people in schools and the experiences they’ve had and how this shapes the beginning of health & wellbeing for them and it’s not always for good.

As I’d mentioned throughout the talk, please please sign our “Trust Your Trainer” campaign, where we are on a mission to help make the sharing of information more regulated.

So lovely to see so many familiar faces & meet lots of new connections 🤝

Just a little reminder that this is not breakfast…

& if you feel hungry an hour later, this is very likely why…

Before anyone panics… this isn’t because toast, cereal or other carb based breakfasts are “bad”

The issue is that carbs on their own are often missing one important thing… PROTEIN 🤪

When you eat a breakfast that’s mostly carbs, you’re likely to feel hungry again much sooner.

That can lead to..

• More snacking throughout the morning
• Increased cravings later on
• Less energy levels
• Making it harder to stay on track with your weight loss goals

When we eat carbohydrates, our blood sugar naturally rises (which is completely normal and healthy btw) ..

But if you’re trying to lose w e i ght, adding protein alongside those carbs can make a HUGEEEEEE difference.

For example…

Turn your toast into toast with 3 eggs and a little cheese.. this is typically what I eat most days..

Now you’ve added protein (and some healthy fats), which helps SLOW digestion and keeps you “fuller for longer” this is why protein gets thrown around so much and this is why..

So when you do this for your breakfast,

✅ More stable energy (less spike and crash)
✅ Feeling fuller for longer
✅ Fewer mid morning cravings
✅ Better appetite control throughout the day

So here’s your reminder this week….

If you’re going to change just one thing about your food, make sure you’re adding a source of protein alongside your usual breakfast carbs

What do you currently have?
Or what’s everyone having this morning? 👇🏽👇🏽👇🏽

Guess what, you fasted and you ate LESS..

But it wasn’t because you “fasted” it’s because you ate. less.

There is an exception to the rule here, if you are someone who is in a smaller body, smaller in height, and isn’t very active, your daily nutrition goals are going to be low.. so it may benefit you to eat your first meal of the day slightly later.

That’s it.

Fasting is essentially creating a smaller window to eat your food but by giving it a name, is creating food rules.

So if you then set yourself a strict rigid time scale and you eat outwith that, it’s this loop of “I can’t stick to anything”

Stopping eating after 8pm literally will do nothing there’s nothing magical in it… if you are in a deficit, you will lose f a t, if you aren’t, you won’t.

So you could still go over your calorie needs whilst fasting technically because it all comes down to how MUCH you consume in a day.. that’s it.

This is the issue I have with w e i ght & when it becomes the sole focus of your progress, it can literally make your goals very very difficult.

My client got back from her holiday and proceeded to step on the s c a l e s the following day… please, please, do not do that..

Don’t do it after the weekend.
Don’t do it after a holiday.

So here’s a few things here to unpick…

“Ready to work it off” …

- aiming for a goal every week of trying to lose a certain amount will set you up to be disappointed.

You cannot predict how much you can lose in a week, so please do not try aim for this.

- it’s is physically impossible to gain 4 lbs of f a t in a week… now, I seen Lauren the week and she said “aw it’s gone down back to normal”

Exactly. A lot of this is purely water retention I mentioned this in one of my previous posts about all the reasons that cause this.

So here’s your reminder if you are going away, please do not come back and stand on that sad step ❤️

Let’s talk about metabolism… but I really want you to think about what that even means? Because most people don’t even know what your metabolism is.

The d i e t industry has spent decades convincing people theirs is broken.

“I can’t lose weight because I have a slow metabolism.”

“This tea / coffee boosts your metabolism.”

“Eat every 2 hours to keep your metabolism burning.”

“Never skip breakfast or your metabolism shuts down.”

“Carbs slow your metabolism.”

“Your metabolism is damaged because you dieted.”

“A detox resets your metabolism.”

“Your metabolism stops working after 40.”

Your metabolism isn’t a switch. It’s not broken because you ate carbs or it’s absolutely not fixed by a special coffee.

The d i e t industry loves the word “metabolism” because it sounds scientific enough to sell almost anything. The reality is much less exciting and much less profitable.

Literally all this means is how many c a l ories your body needs to keep us alive based on who you are & how active you are.

If you are inactive or sedentary, your body doesn’t need a lot of energy.

If you are highly active with an active job, chances are you do.

So if you sit all day, sit when you drive home, lie in bed and repeat that cycle without movement, the reason people gain body f a t is because you aren’t expending a lot and then we over eat.

People in larger, taller, more active bodies will expend more.

People in smaller, less active, sedentary bodies will expend less.

You’re not broken, you need to move more.

So one thing that people massively think is that I’m just “anti d i e t” - well, I am 🤣But what I AM about is .. not giv...

So one thing that people massively think is that I’m just “anti d i e t” - well, I am 🤣

But what I AM about is .. not giving people eating dis0rders trying to make money, it’s honestly minging.

You have people who literally despise themselves so much, low confidence, they don’t like their bodies, the weathers getting warmer and people are generally desperate and uneducated.

So along comes the next best “promise” … praying of NAIVE people and it honestly makes me so sad.

People just want to be happy.
People just want to feel good.
People just want to not feel insecure.
People just want to feel good around their partners.
People just want to take their clothes off in front of the person they like.
People just want to have more energy.

& will generally do anything to get that BUT when you’ve got ..

- people STILL selling “slimming coffee” in 2026, is mad. Coffee contains caffeine, which is said to increase your internal temperature so that your body uses more energy to cool itself down but the effect is tiny.

- you might feel a little less hungry which btw, you can do by actually eating substantially.

- you’ve got environments focusing on numbers numbers number and then you feel HORRENDOUS when you’ve “gained” .. is going to only make you feel horrrific.

There are over 100 reasons why a scale changes.

- had alcohol? Retained water.
- had salt? Retained water.
- need the toilet? Constipated?
- time of the month?
- had red meat.

I could go on… but you literally throw the towel in because a scale has changed when actually it might never been f a t … but just weight but we still encourage this.

- you’ve got companies still selling tables that you could just get a basic multi vitamin from Asda for £2 - or go on MyProtein and get protein powder 🙂

You can try and avoid this forever if that’s your goal but you will keep going round and round and round in circles.

The sooner you accept that the process is actually VERY simple, the quicker.

The faster you try, the longer this will take you, the quickest way will ALWAYS be doing it “properly” because once you learn, you’re now stuck with education and new habits you won’t unlearn.

Of course from time to time you’ll still have a nice time, enjoying the treats, the cake and whatever that’s normal but you start to learn that it isn’t going to harm you by eating it…

You NEED to do the basic over and over and over. I promise you.

If you are NOT making time to eat three meals a day, you will over eat in the afternoon on things that are catching you out, VERY quickly..

You need to eat lunch that’s more than just a salad. We associate health with salads, 100% there’s helpful things in the salads BUT we need protein and carbs together..

Or people are “skipping meals” because you think this is going to help you, you are literally going against yourself and actually stopping yourself from achieving what you want by doing this. The more you cut out, the more you will eat later in front of that TV…

Protein is and should be your best friend.

Toast for breakfast, it’s time to add eggs.. & so on but more on this soon.

The point of this message is that in a world of NOISE, you will be told the next best thing to lose w e i g h t and there literally isn’t one.

It will ALWAYS come back to the same basics over and over.

You need to eat 3 meals a day.
You need to move regularly.
You need to drink a tad more water.
You need to go to bed a tad earlier.
You need to manage your stress.
You need to stop binge watching TV for 2-3 hours and do the things you said you would.

We do have time for those things.

The next pill, the next powder, the next peptide, the next ‘shred’ ain’t going to instil life long habits into you that you will continue this cycle until you do it properly.
