🌱 Trip Down Memory Lane 🌱
Had the weekend off to go back to uni! It was an education in how life really doesn’t always go the way you think it will!
Did you know I originally trained as a primary school teacher! I lasted 18 months 😂 though I did have a 22 year career in children & family work across charity and NHS so all was not wasted! AND I met and am still friends with these amazing Stanley Birds! So funny though when people asked ‘so are you still teaching?!’ No, now I’m a Sauna Master 😜
I loved my uni days but standing back in my old bedroom filled with nostalgia I couldn’t help think of the young, shy girl with low confidence and self esteem and absolutely no idea who she was or how to handle life. She had no idea life would end up here that’s for sure! She wanted the teaching career, the house, the family - or she thought she did - as it was the life we were always sold as the ‘dream’ and the ‘success’ and the…’norm’.
But, seems my life bucked the trend! And I’m really bloody grateful it did. There’s been many versions of myself since then but I think this is my favourite yet and I finally feel I’ve got to where I was meant to be going. And these girls have been there all along, witnessing and cheerleading. Friends through all life’s joys and s**t shows. Scroll to the end for a flashback!!
