💔 CORBY CHILDHOOD CANCER 💔

This week, the town has been filled with heartbreak.

One young lad has passed away. Another little girl has been placed into a coma. Other children are fighting incredibly hard and the rest of these innocent children are being left with lifelong physical and mental side effects.

These are children. They should be worrying about school, playing with their friends, getting muddy and being kids — not fighting for their lives. 💔

This is not okay.
It has never been okay.

And something has to change.
It NEEDS to change.

No family should have to enter the childhood cancer lifestyle. No child should have to go through what these little warriors are going through and unfortunately Corby are having way too many children fighting this devastating illness 💔

To every childhood cancer family in Corby and beyond — we see you. We stand with you. We are thinking of you, praying for you, and sending you more love than words can ever express. 💛

Thought it’s time to do a little update on our sassy Ivy-Louise 🫧🫶

She is approaching 2 years since finishing treatment (in May) 🥹
Ivy is absolutely thriving and we couldn’t be more grateful 🙏🏻

Our girl will be turning 7 years old in August 😭
And yes… she is still as sassy as ever 🫣😅

Ivy still visits her oncologist regularly, with her next appointment coming up in a few days. He has been so impressed with her every time, and we’re hoping for another amazing check-up 🤞

She will tell everyone she meets all about her cancer journey — how long she was in hospital and everything she went through. And honestly, we love how she’s processing it all in her own beautiful way 💕

Also want to keep it real…
any illnesses or bruises still trigger us. You just can’t help but think of the worst 😔

After treatment, it doesn’t just end. It’s not like you can just go back to normal… not for any of us. After everything we witnessed and went through, that stays with you forever 🤍

And seeing the amount of little children being diagnosed with cancer in Corby and surrounding areas since Ivy was diagnosed is just sickening. Every single one hits our hearts all over again… it’s devastating, and more needs to be done.

And can we just talk about her hair?!
Gorgeously curly, thick, and she absolutely LOVES getting it done again 🩷

We are just so proud of our incredible girl every single day 💜🦋

Tonight I am angry.

Angry that the options for Max are so limited.
Angry that every clinical trial for paediatric brain tumours seems to come with the same crushing sentence — “He doesn’t qualify.”

Each time we hear those words, a door closes.

There are around 30 children a year diagnosed with the same type of tumour as Max. Just 30.
But 30 is 30 too many.

That’s 30 children with no cure.
30 children with little to no trials available to them.
30 families living this nightmare.

And it feels like they are being let down simply because their cancer is rare — because the numbers are small, the funding is small, and the research is limited.

That is not okay.

Our children deserve better.
They deserve to be researched.
They deserve treatments designed for their tumours.
They deserve access to trials.
They deserve a real chance at life.

Every door we knock on asking for help for Max is met with sympathy… and then, “Sorry, we can’t help.”

The USA offered a potential trial and quoted us 2.5 million!!!!!! 2.5 million!!!!!!

If no one else that we know of can help, then who can?

We need help.
Max deserves help.

We need answers.
Why are there so few trials?
Why is there so little research?
Who decides which tumours are “worth” investing in?
Who do we speak to so that our son isn’t just another statistic in a rare category?

As his parents, our hearts break every single day. We would do anything to fix this for him. To protect him. To take his place. To make it all go away.

But right now, we are met with silence, closed doors, and unanswered emails.

So I am asking — loudly — who do we need to speak to?
Where do we turn?
How do we change this, not just for Max, but for the other children fighting the same battle?

For Max.
For the 30.
For every family who feels like their child’s life doesn’t carry enough “numbers” to matter.

Please share far and wide.
Someone, somewhere, must be able to help. 💔

Max, I’m so, so sorry you are being let down! Me and your dad will fight for you and for this cause, every single day of our lives until it changes. We love you and WE won’t let you down! ❤️❤️❤️

🌍 World Cancer Day

Today is about every single person whose life has been touched by cancer.

The adults fighting quietly.
The families grieving loudly.
The survivors learning how to live again.
And the children who should never have to know this fight at all.

Cancer does not discriminate. It doesn’t care about age, plans, or the life you were living before it arrived.

For us, this day is deeply personal.

My niece Ivy was just 4 years old when she was diagnosed with Acute myeloid leukaemia in January 2024. One appointment, one blood test, and our world changed forever.

She spent months in Queen’s Medical Centre Nottingham having intensive chemotherapy, transfusions, procedures and facing things no child should ever face.

She is now in remission- her last dose of chemo was May 2024🩷🙌🏼
And we are grateful every single day she is here.

But today isn’t just about Ivy.

It’s about the parents, grandparents, friends, siblings, and loved ones who are fighting cancer right now.
It’s about those who have survived.
And it’s about those we miss every single day.

Cancer leaves a mark on every family it touches. The fear, the trauma, the heartbreak — it never fully goes away.

So today, we raise awareness.
We remember.
We support.
And we hold our loved ones a little tighter.

🎗 For the survivors.
🎗 For the ones we’ve lost.
