Who decides when treatment ends?

This smile was achieved with teeth whitening and clear aligner treatment only—no composite bonding, no veneers.

Once the initial alignment was complete, we reviewed the result together. A refinement isn't something I automatically recommend, and it's certainly not something every patient needs.

Sometimes patients are delighted with their first result and choose to stop there. Others benefit from one refinement, and occasionally a second, to make those final subtle improvements.

In this case, we chose a second refinement because the patient wanted to perfect a few small details. The decision was made together after discussing the options, not because treatment had to continue.

My role isn't to keep treatment going—it's to help my patients understand their choices and support them in deciding when the result feels right for them.

Every smile, every goal and every journey is different.

Patient-centred treatment planning

Many people come to see me for a treatment recommendation. But before we talk about whitening, aligners, bonding or crowns, I want to understand you.

What do you like about your smile?
What bothers you?
What are your goals?
And perhaps most importantly...
Do you actually want treatment at all?

Sometimes the best solution is whitening.

Sometimes it's tooth straightening.

Sometimes it's simply understanding that your smile is already healthy and beautiful as it is.

I love creating healthy, natural-looking smiles. But only when treatment is truly the right choice for the person sitting in front of me.

That's why every consultation starts with a conversation.

A really lovely case from this morning.

Subtle changes using whitening and conservative composite bonding to enhance what was already there.

The best part is always seeing how patients feel at the end.

This patient’s smile was already naturally balanced.

However, the lower teeth were slightly crowded, which can sometimes make cleaning more difficult.

Clear aligner treatment allowed us to gently reposition the teeth, making daily cleaning easier while preserving the natural appearance of the smile.

Sometimes the most important changes support long-term oral health rather than dramatic cosmetic change.

One of the most rewarding parts of this work is hearing how patients feel once treatment is complete.

Often the changes are subtle — but the impact can be significant.

Social media can make perfectly healthy teeth feel like they need fixing.

Often, they don’t.

If your enamel is healthy, your bite is stable and you’re comfortable smiling — that is worth protecting.

My approach is simple:
We protect what’s healthy.
We align when it improves function.
We refine only when it’s necessary.

And sometimes, the right plan is reassurance and review — not treatment.
