Why Perfectionism Is Holding You Back from Fat Loss

Let’s get real for a minute—thinking you need to be perfect with your fat loss goals is actually what’s holding you back.

Here’s the truth: Some days, you’ll nail your targets.

You’ll hit every macro, crush your workout, and feel like you’ve got it all figured out.

But other days? You might only manage half of what you planned. And guess what?

That’s totally fine.

Life happens. Kids, work, family obligations—there are always things that can get in the way. But here’s the thing:

Choosing not to stop, even when life throws you curveballs, is how you make real progress.

It’s not about being perfect; it’s about being consistent.

Progress isn’t made in the days where everything goes perfectly, but in the days when you keep pushing forward despite the challenges.

So, next time you feel like you didn’t do enough, remember—every step counts. Keep showing up, keep taking action, and you’ll keep moving closer to your goals. That’s how real, lasting change happens..

Most busy parents don’t struggle because they lack information.

They struggle because they’re relying on the wrong things.

❌ Waiting to feel motivated before exercising.

❌ Thinking one “bad” food has ruined the day.

❌ Jumping from one workout trend to the next.

❌ Going all-in for two weeks before burning out.

The parents who successfully transform their bodies aren’t perfect.

They’ve simply learned that results come from consistency, not intensity.

They understand that motivation comes and goes, but habits remain.

They know that one biscuit doesn’t ruin progress any more than one salad creates it.

They stick to the basics long enough for them to actually work.

And perhaps most importantly...

They stop trying to figure everything out alone.

Having a clear plan, accountability, and support removes the guesswork and helps you focus on what actually moves the needle.

If you’re a busy parent who’s tired of starting over every Monday and ready to build results that last, drop a 🔥 below or send me a message saying “READY”.

Let’s make this the last time you have to start again.

For the last 6 months, Fiona Docherty has completely transformed not just her body, but her mindset too.

And the biggest shift?

She stopped letting “all or nothing” thinking dictate her progress.

Like so many people, Fiona used to believe that if she couldn’t do everything perfectly, she’d failed.

Miss a workout? Failed.

Go off plan at the weekend? Failed.

Life get busy? Start again on Monday.

But that’s exactly the cycle that keeps people stuck.

Instead of chasing perfection, Fiona focused on consistency.

She showed up when she could.

She made the best choices available rather than the perfect choices.

She stopped trying to win every single day and started focusing on winning most days.

And that’s why her results have been incredible.

Because progress isn’t built from perfect weeks.

It’s built from months of repeated effort, even when life isn’t ideal.

Your body doesn’t care about one missed workout.

It doesn’t care about one meal out.

It responds to what you do consistently over time.

Fiona understood that.

She trusted the process, stayed patient, and kept moving forward even when things weren’t perfect.

6 months later, the results speak for themselves.

Less pressure.

More consistency.

Better habits.

Amazing progress.

Stop aiming for perfection.

Start aiming for consistency.

That’s where the real transformation happens.

“Your metabolism isn’t broken. Your life just looks different now.

One of the biggest misconceptions I hear from parents in their 30s and 40s is:

👉 ‘I can’t lose weight because my metabolism has slowed down.’

The problem?

Research shows that our metabolism remains relatively stable throughout adulthood, with only small changes occurring later in life.

What’s changed isn’t your metabolism.

It’s your lifestyle.

Less daily movement.
More sitting.
More stress.
Less sleep.
More family responsibilities.
Less time for yourself.

The things that used to happen naturally in your 20s now require intention.

The good news?

You don’t need a detox, metabolism booster, or fad diet.

You need to focus on the things you can control:

✅ Daily movement
✅ Strength training
✅ Nutrition habits
✅ Calorie intake
✅ Sleep and recovery

Stop fighting your age and start building habits that fit your current life.

That’s where real results come from.

Have you noticed it’s your lifestyle—not your metabolism—that has changed most over the years?

Can I tell you about one of my favourite success stories?

This is .

Over the years, she’s achieved some amazing transformations. She’s become stronger, fitter, healthier and built habits that have completely changed her lifestyle.

But this one feels a little different.

A few months ago, Sharon set herself the goal of completing her first ever 10K race.

The challenge wasn’t just the training.

It was the doubt.

The feeling that she wasn’t doing enough.

The worry that she’d missed too many sessions.

The belief that she wasn’t prepared enough to achieve the time she wanted.

Despite all the progress she’d made over the years, those thoughts still crept in.

But she kept showing up.

She got her runs done when she could.

She adapted when life got busy.

She trusted the process, even when she wasn’t fully convinced it was working.

And this weekend?

She completed her very first 10K.

Not only that, she achieved the time she had set her sights on from the beginning.

What makes me even prouder is hearing how she feels about the journey as a whole.

Recently, Sharon told me:

*”You helped give me enough knowledge that food and nutrition don’t make me feel overwhelmed when thinking about what to eat, how to plan meals or how to get enough protein in. The PT sessions pushed me too. I feel fitter and stronger and it’s the healthiest I’ve felt physically and mentally in a long time.”*

For me, that’s what this is all about.

Not just crossing a finish line.

Not just hitting a time goal.

But building the confidence, knowledge and habits that make you feel in control of your health again.

The lesson here isn’t that Sharon trained perfectly.

She didn’t.

The lesson is that you don’t need perfect preparation to achieve something incredible.

You just need to keep moving forward, especially on the days when you feel like you’re falling short.

So proud of you, Sharon.

Proof that we’re often capable of far more than we give ourselves credit for. 👏🏃‍♀️💙
