10 of 13: Peace Within Change
At the centre of a great turning wheel sat a woman in silence. Around her, seasons changed within moments. Oceans rose and softened. Stars moved across the heavens. Leaves appeared, turned gold and returned to Mother Earth.
At first, she tried to stop the wheel. She clung to spring and resisted winter. She begged joyful moments to remain and difficult moments to disappear. The more tightly she grasped, the more exhausted she became. Then Mother Earth spoke through the rhythm of her breath. “You do not find peace by stopping change. You find peace by discovering what remains present within you while change unfolds.”
The woman closed her eyes. Beneath the noise, she found her breathing. Beneath her fear, she found awareness. Beneath every changing identity, she found the quiet presence that had accompanied her through them all. She could not control every season, but she could choose how she met it.
She could step away from the noise when it became too loud. She could return to her breath, feel Mother Earth beneath her and choose only the next loving step. She could rest without solving the entire future.
When she opened her eyes, the wheel was still turning, but she no longer felt thrown by its movement. Peace did not arrive because uncertainty had disappeared.
It arrived because she had remembered that nothing outside her could take away the sacred stillness within.
