Last night I had originally planned a more energetic Summer Solstice class.
However... I hadn't quite accounted for just how warm it was going to be! 😅
Rather than having everyone melting into their mats, I put that class to one side and completely rewrote the session as a Yin Yoga practice instead.
Now, Yin is often associated with coolness, stillness and the feminine moon energy, whereas the Summer Solstice is all about fire, heat and the energy of the sun.
At first glance they seem like opposites.
But Yoga has a wonderful way of reminding us that balance matters.
So rather than ignoring the Solstice altogether, we honoured the energy of the sun in a gentler way.
🌿 We slowed down.
🌿 We softened.
🌿 We created space.
And at the end of class we finished with a visualisation:
☀️ Imagine yourself standing in a field of golden light.
☀️ The warmth of the sun fills every cell.
☀️ Notice all that has bloomed within you.
☀️ Notice your strength, your resilience and your growth.
☀️ Let the light remind you that you already carry everything you need within.
To close our practice, I used my Tingshaw (Tibetan cymbals) to gently bring everyone back to themselves before we returned to the rest of our evening.
