🧚 A little Foot Fairy magic at workβ€¦πŸ‘£

Thickened, overgrown or difficult-to-manage toenails can be uncomfortable and can also make routine nail care at home much more challenging.

These before & after photos show the difference professional foot care can make. With careful treatment, the nails have been reduced, trimmed and tidied, leaving them much more manageable and the feet looking and feeling better cared for.

And remember - there’s never any need to feel embarrassed about the condition of your feet. As a Foot Health Practitioner, I see all kinds of foot and nail concerns and provide treatment in a friendly, professional and completely non-judgemental environment. πŸ’™

We often don’t give our feet much thought until something starts to hurt - but healthy feet play an important role in keeping us comfortable, mobile and independent.

Your feet carry you through every day, and changes in them can sometimes tell us more than we realise. Regular foot care can help to:

✨ Keep you comfortable and moving with confidence
✨ Identify changes in your skin or nails that may need attention
✨ Manage hard skin, corns, cracked heels and other common concerns before they become more uncomfortable
✨ Keep nails properly maintained, particularly when they become difficult to cut yourself
✨ Monitor foot health where conditions such as diabetes may require a little extra care and attention

Looking after your feet isn’t simply about how they look - it’s about keeping them healthy, comfortable and functioning well.

And you don’t need to wait until something hurts before giving your feet some attention. Regular checks and professional foot care can help you stay on top of changes and give you the opportunity to ask questions or get advice about anything you're unsure of.

As a Foot Health Practitioner, I provide professional foot care, assessments and practical advice to help you look after the feet that look after you. πŸ‘£πŸ§š

5 things I wouldn’t recommend as a Foot Health Practitioner πŸ‘£

A few everyday habits can make a real difference to keeping them healthy and comfortable.

Here are 5 things I’d avoid when caring for your feet:

1️⃣ Ignoring changes in your toenails
Changes in colour or appearance are worth paying attention to rather than simply covering them up.

2️⃣ Cutting down into the corners of your nails
Toenails are best trimmed straight across. Cutting into the corners can encourage problems such as ingrowing nails.

3️⃣ Going barefoot in communal areas
Think swimming pools, changing rooms and communal showers - wearing suitable footwear can help protect your feet.

4️⃣ Using nail polish to hide a suspected infection
If a nail looks unusual, it’s better to find out what may be causing the change rather than simply covering it.

5️⃣ Forgetting to moisturise
Regular moisturising can help keep the skin on your feet soft and reduce dryness and cracking - just avoid applying moisturiser between the toes.

A little regular attention can go a long way towards happier, healthier feet. πŸ‘£βœ¨

If you notice changes in your feet or you're unsure about something, a Foot Health Practitioner can assess your feet and offer appropriate foot care and advice.

Our feet carry us around every day, but the soles are one area we don’t always pay much attention to - especially when they’re not causing us any discomfort.

Taking a moment every now and then to check your feet can help you notice changes such as:

πŸ”Ή Areas of hard or thickened skin
πŸ”Ή Dryness or cracks, particularly around the heels
πŸ”Ή Redness or areas that look irritated
πŸ”Ή Changes in the skin that weren’t there before
πŸ”Ή Sore or tender areas that may be caused by pressure or rubbing

Knowing what your feet normally look and feel like can make it easier to spot when something has changed.

And for some people, simply getting a good look at the soles of their feet isn’t that easy. Reduced flexibility or mobility can make checking - and caring for - your feet more difficult.

That’s where regular professional foot care can help. As a Foot Health Practitioner, I can assess your overall foot health, help with common foot concerns and offer advice on keeping your feet comfortable and well cared for. πŸ‘£βœ¨

If you've noticed something you're unsure about, or your feet could simply do with a little Foot Fairy care, please get in touch.

Ingrown toenails occur when the edge of the nail grows into the surrounding skin. This can lead to discomfort, redness and, if left untreated, sometimes infection.

Common causes include:
πŸ”Ή Cutting toenails too short or leaving a sharp corner that grows into the surrounding skin
πŸ”Ή Wearing shoes that are too tight or don't allow enough room for your toes
πŸ”Ή Toe injuries or repeated pressure, such as from certain sports or activities

How can I help prevent them?

βœ… Cut your toenails straight across
βœ… Avoid digging into the corners when trimming your nails
βœ… Choose well-fitting footwear with plenty of toe room
βœ… Don't ignore early signs such as soreness, tenderness or redness

If you think you may have an ingrown toenail, it's always best to seek advice sooner rather than later. Early treatment can often help prevent the problem from becoming more painful or infected.

πŸ’™ There’s nothing more rewarding than hearing that someone is walking away feeling more comfortable than when they arrived.

For many people, foot discomfort creeps up gradually. You get used to it, adjust how you walk, or simply accept it as part of everyday life.

But it doesn't always have to be that way.

Whether it's hard skin, corns, thickened nails, cracked heels, or general foot maintenance, professional foot care can often make a real difference to your comfort and mobility.

Thank you so much, Emily, for your wonderful review and for trusting me with your foot care. Knowing you left your first appointment able to walk with less pain is exactly why I love what I do. πŸ’™

πŸ“… If your feet could use a little care and attention, I'd love to help.
