Let's talk about snacking, it's a question I'm asked about a lot. It is often associated with words like guilt, temptation, shame, not "being good". It’s amazing how much emotion can get tangled up insomething as simple as reaching for a snack.

But what if snacking wasn’t something to judge yourself for?

What if it was something to get curious about?

You know that thing where you have a good breakfast, a decent lunch… and then somehow the afternoon turns into a little trail of crackers, bits of chocolate, handfuls of nuts, maybe something while making dinner?

It’s so common, especially in summer when routines shift, children are around more, meals can get a bit more random, and hot weather can make proper meals feel less appealing.

But snacking isn’t always about being “greedy” or “undisciplined”.

Sometimes it’s your body asking for something.

Maybe breakfast didn’t have enough protein.
Maybe lunch was too light.
Maybe you’re tired, stressed, bored, dehydrated, or running on caffeine.
Maybe you’ve been “being good” all day and your body is trying to catch up.

And sometimes, yes, it’s just habit.

It’s about gently noticing what your body is asking for, creating meals that actually satisfy you, and building a rhythm that helps you feel lighter, steadier and more in control without the all-or-nothing pressure.

So tell me honestly…

Are you a snacker?

Growing Into You will be released as an online self-led course but if you'd be interested in a live online small group course, please let me know below.

I'm happy to do that if there is the demand for it 😊

I just had to share a sneak peek!

A year in the making and I really am on the home stretch now with just a couple of small bits to finish off.

The workbook to go with my new course for tweens/teens, Growing Into You.

I was so happy to pick it up from Jenny at Prontaprint Norfolk in Kings Lynn and actually hold the finished version in my hands.

I'll do a flick through video tomorrow but for now here is a taster...

Wow, what a great response to the launch of my 'Wellness Check' sessions, thank you everybody for getting in touch 🙏

It’s brilliant to see so many women deciding that now is the time to prioritise themselves, ask questions, and get support with the things that have been bothering them for far too long.

I have just a couple of appointments left for next week so get in touch if you're ready to get yourself sorted in time for the summer.

NEW: The Wellbeing Check

You don’t always need a full programme.

Sometimes you just need space to pause, look at what’s going on, and get some clear, personalised guidance.

Maybe you’re doing “mostly fine” but something feels a bit off.

You might be:
✨ experiencing new symptoms, pain, fatigue, weight changes or digestive issues
✨ feeling like your hormones have suddenly changed the rules and what you did before isn't working anymore.
✨ tired of trying all the 'hacks' and guessing what your body needs
✨ wanting to improve your food, sleep, stress or movement habits
✨ ready for a bit of a reset, but not sure where to start
✨ wishing you could just sit down with someone, ask your questions and get clear answers

That’s exactly why I’ve created my Wellbeing Check.

This is a 90-minute session where we look at the foundations of your wellbeing (including food, sleep, stress management and movement) and explore simple, realistic steps to help you feel more like yourself again and get your health back on track.

It's perfect if you feel you're half way there but just can't get rid of that one issue or are struggling to reach your health goal. Maybe you'd like some professional guidance, a fresh perspective, or a kickstart in the right direction.

Wellbeing Check launch price: £85
90-minute personalised session with treatment plan

No overwhelm. No unrealistic plans. Just practical, supportive advice tailored to you.

Your skin is talking, are you listening?

Skin conditions aren’t always just skin deep.
Often, they can reflect what’s happening in the gut, particularly the health of your gut lining (your body’s inner “membrane”).

When this barrier becomes irritated or compromised, the body can send signals outward and the skin is one of the places this can show up as persistent breakouts, eczema or dry, reactive skin, redness, rosacea or inflammation.

By seeing these as a signal from your body that something deeper is going on you can start to view it not as something to “fight” but something to understand.

Supporting the gut can be a powerful place to start when it comes to calmer, healthier skin.
Because your body isn’t working against you,
it’s communicating with you. I see this with clients all the time, when we work on their gut health their skin issues usually clear up.

I love bake and make days when the smells from the kitchen spread through the house and I know for the rest of the week I'll have easy, quick, nutritious and delicious breakfasts and lunches ready made that ease my decision fatigue and take away the temptation to grab something that isn't ideal.

Meal prepping isnt for everyone but its been a game changer for our family.

Yes I'm a nutritionist but I'm also a busy mum of three kids with various food likes, dislikes and routines at different stages of development and therefore nutritional needs. My approach as a mum is patience and flexibility, trusting the process. I do what I do and eventually it sparks their curiosity, they might try things but within their food boundaries and gradually they discover the new tastes and benefits of different foods.

Below are my tips for one of our breakfast favourites, granola. I'm very happy to finally be swapping out a cupboard full of different cereals for more ingredients that I know will fill them up for longer, give them the energy they need, the building blocks for strong bones, a healthy brain and balanced hormones as they move into and through the teen years.

✨️ Oats should be outweighed by seeds and nuts (if no allergies) at least 2 to 1.

✨️ Add natural sweetness.

✨️ Granola isn’t the main event, use it as a topping to Greek yoghurt and fruit for balanced protein, healthy fats, complex carbs and polyphenols.

✨️ Crush the nuts if your children don't like them whole.

✨️ Add dark chocolate chips or cacao powder for a chocolatey version.

If you'd like my favourite granola recipe just like this post AND comment "granola" below and I'll send it to you.

Puberty is about so much more than the changes we can see.

Behind the scenes, the body is working hard to support growth, hormone shifts, brain development, bone building and changing emotional and physical needs.

That is one reason nutrition can matter so much in this stage of life.

It can help explain why parents may notice changes in:
appetite
energy
mood
concentration
food preferences
sleep

Of course, nutrition is not the whole story. But it is a crucial piece of the puzzle, and one that many parents are given very little guidance on.

As a parent of teens/preteens and as a past educator this is something I feel really strongly about because parents are often left trying to make sense of a stage that can feel surprisingly complex.

That is also one of the reasons I created Growing Into You - to help make puberty feel more understandable, and to look at nutrition, hormones and wellbeing in a more joined-up way.

Are you noticing changes in your child’s appetite or energy at the moment?
