We love sharing real images of breastfeeding, mothering and parenting - babies of all ages and stages - reflecting the lived reality of families’ experiences.

We especially are looking to expand our collection of photos that represent the diverse nature of families we support and want to support, so we'd love photos of mothers, parents, families and babies that come from a wide range of ethnicities, religions, family groups, age, socio-economic background and ability.

Do you have a photo you’d be happy for us to use? We’ll credit you however you prefer.

If so, please email [email protected] and we’ll be in touch to agree how you’d like your image used.

Thank you!

Getting your baby positioned and attached comfortably at the breast is an art—often it takes a little while for breastfeeding to feel entirely comfortable and natural, even if you’ve breastfed before.

Our article has lots of information and tips on to help you breastfeed comfortably and positions you could try.

Today is the start of Black Breastfeeding Week 2026. As well as a week to focus on the racial disparities in healthcare and breastfeeding support evident in the UK, it is also a week where Black women are encouraged to celebrate their breastfeeding journeys.

LLLGB will be sharing posts from voices within the Black community - from advocates, mothers and parents. Thank you to all those mothers who have generously shared their stories with us.

It's Black Breastfeeding Week (B*W) at the end of August. As well as a time to focus on the racial disparities in healthcare and breastfeeding support evident in the UK, it is also a time to celebrate Black women's breastfeeding journeys.

We would love to feature stories and contributions from Black mothers and families on our social media during the week in August. We would love to share your stories, poem or art – could you help us?

Your words and your stories about breastfeeding and what breastfeeding support means to you are invaluable and could help many other families. If you would like to share your words as a Black breastfeeding mother, we would love to hear from you either by sending a message to the page or by email to [email protected] by the end of July.

Thank you.

Melanie tells us what she loves about coming to LLL group meetings:

"From the moment, I walked into my first LLL meeting, I felt an overwhelming sense of welcome and reassurance. It was more than just a gathering; it was a space where warmth and understanding met me at the door.

In a world where new mothers so often feel pressure to “get it right” LLL offered something profoundly different, a place rooted in honesty, shared experience, and genuine compassion. How ever your baby is consuming your breastmilk, whether it’s through latching on, a bottle, or an NG tube, you are still breastfeeding.

There was no judgement, no competition, and no expectation of perfection. Instead, there was listening, encouragement, and the quiet strength that comes from women supporting one another. That first meeting marked the beginning of not only greater confidence in my own journey, but also a deep appreciation for the power of community and connection."

One of the great things about breastfeeding, once it's going well for you, is that you can often do it any time, any place, anywhere! We love this photo of one of our followers breastfeeding in a hairdressers!

Where have you breastfed?

It's hot in some parts of the UK! 🌞 Even in very hot weather your exclusively breastfed baby doesn’t need additional water, but they will probably want to breastfeed more. It's good to offer. The composition of your breast milk will change in response to the need of your baby - a higher water content in the hot weather and a higher fat content in the colder months.

Thank you to Fatima for sharing her story with us for Pride Month:

"My wife has been a strong and unwavering supporter of our breastfeeding relationship, and my biggest advocate. She’s amazed by how central breastfeeding is to both our baby and me and is always ready to listen to my thoughts and feelings about it… she’s never doubted the important of breastfeeding and she’s always protected and honoured that special bond.

We’ve faced our struggles, as we dealt with early breastfeeding issues and adjusted to our roles as mothers, but we’ve always worked together well as a team. People tend to think our family dynamics around breastfeeding or motherhood in general are easier because Ines is a woman, but I think rather than being due to gender, it is about having a caring and understanding human being by your side!
Having an inclusive community around you makes all the difference, especially when you know you aren’t being judged."

When it comes to teething, all babies are different: some carry on as normal but for others, it can be a time of feeling sore and in pain, and it can impact on breastfeeding.

Our article has tips for overcoming teething troubles:
