September is Thyroid Cancer Awareness Month.
Thyroid cancer affects the thyroid gland in the neck and can sometimes present with symptoms that may initially appear unrelated to cancer.
Key symptoms to be aware of include:
➡️A lump or swelling in the neck
➡️A persistent hoarse voice
➡️Difficulty swallowing
➡️Difficulty breathing
➡️Persistent pain in the front of the neck or throat
Around 4,300 people are diagnosed with thyroid cancer in the UK every year. Around 84% of people diagnosed in England survive their disease for 10 years or more.
