SUNDAY STRENGTH | LOOKING TOWARDS THE WEEK AHEAD

Pain Awareness Month reminds us that many people enter each new week balancing pain, fatigue, responsibilities and expectations that others may never see.

Hope does not mean pretending those challenges are absent. It means believing that greater understanding, practical adjustments and genuinely inclusive communities can make everyday life better.

As the new week begins, let us create spaces where people can speak honestly, participate differently and still be valued fully.

Stronger together. Beyond limits.

📣 Help us grow the Moore Than Arthritis Free Active Community Network.

We are inviting charities, NHS trusts and responsible businesses to join a growing network committed to making activity, trusted information and practical support more accessible for people living with arthritis and other long-term conditions.

The network connects organisations that can contribute through:

• Inclusive physical activity
• Health and wellbeing information
• Specialist knowledge
• Accessible products and services
• Community support and opportunities

There is no one-size-fits-all contribution. What matters is a genuine commitment to inclusion and creating practical benefits for people and communities.

Could your organisation help us reach more people, remove barriers and open new opportunities?

SUNDAY STRENGTH | REST WITHOUT GUILT

Pain can demand energy even when nobody else can see what your body is managing.

If you need a quieter Sunday, rest is not a failure and it does not erase everything you have achieved this week.

You might choose to:

• pause before exhaustion takes over
• make one task easier
• protect time for something you enjoy
• accept help without apologising

Rest can be part of living well—not something you must earn.

What helps you recover when pain has taken more from your week than expected?

Share only what feels comfortable.

SUNDAY STRENGTH | PAIN AWARENESS MONTH

Strength does not always look like pushing through.

Sometimes strength is changing your plans, asking for help, moving more gently or recognising when your body needs rest.

Living with persistent pain can make everyday choices harder than other people realise. You do not need to hide that reality—or prove your resilience by ignoring it.

However today begins, meet yourself with patience.

Inclusive movement does not end when an activity finishes.

Time to recover, comfortable facilities, hydration, rest opportunities and freedom from judgement all influence whether participation is sustainable.

During Pain Awareness Month, it is important to recognise the full experience: preparation, participation, adaptation and recovery.

Success is not defined by distance, duration or intensity. Sometimes it is simply having the confidence and support to participate on your own terms.

How did movement fit into your Saturday?

Perhaps you tried something new, adapted an activity, enjoyed a familiar routine—or recognised that today needed more rest.

Recovery belongs in the movement conversation too. Pause, get comfortable, hydrate and notice how your body feels without judging what you did or did not achieve.

Your day does not need to look active to anyone else to be meaningful to you.

What turns an activity from merely available into genuinely accessible?

It may be appropriate equipment, rest spaces, flexible participation, smaller groups, clear information or an instructor who listens without judgement.

We would like to hear from people with lived experience, activity providers and community organisations:

What practical adjustment has made the greatest difference to participation?

Sharing what works can help more organisations design activity around people rather than expecting people to fit a fixed model.

Accessible movement begins by removing expectations about what activity “should” look like.

For someone living with arthritis or persistent pain, meaningful movement might be a short walk, seated mobility, gentle stretching or simply changing position regularly.

The aim is not comparison or performance—it is creating realistic opportunities to move in a way that respects the individual.

At Moore Than Arthritis, we believe activity should be adaptable, welcoming and shaped around real lives.

Stronger together. Beyond limits.

Good morning—it’s Move Your Way Saturday.

Movement does not have to mean a workout, a target or pushing through pain. It might begin with changing position, gently stretching, walking to the garden or moving to music while seated.

Start with what feels possible for you today. A small movement still counts.

What is your first movement of the morning?
