Jules Of The Earth

Jules Of The Earth Skincare alchemy for women who don’t do half-lives. Fire-lit. Soul-led. Threshold work in jars. Made in Yorkshire. These aren’t ordinary creams or perfumes.

Jules of the Earth creates scent-led skincare for women walking their own path home. Everything here is made by hand in East Yorkshire — shaped by story, stirred by fire, grounded in the body, and lit by something older. They’re thresholds. Invitations. Small, potent rites of becoming. I work with scent, intention, archetype and transformation. Each range follows a different arc:
• BDR — the desce

nt, the choice, the becoming
• Midnight Garden — the liminal forest
• Coral Moon — rising after darkness
• 4am — clarity in the in-between
• The Accord — alignment, truth, the click of return

If you’re here for skincare with a clean label and a corporate smile… you won’t find it. If you’re here for depth, honesty, sovereignty and a bit of fire… welcome home.

Autumn production is about to ramp up, and every batch you make from here uses this month's ingredient costs, not spring's. If your stock figure, your invoice list and your actual shelf count aren't saying the same thing right now, that gap gets wider with every batch you make between now and Christmas.

Core Workspace holds your stock, your customers, your quotes and your invoices in one place — so the number you're working from is the real one, not last quarter's guess. Add a Studio and your formulations, batch records and costs sit in that same chain, right through to the finished product on the shelf.

Get it straight before the season picks up speed, not halfway through it. https://stillroomhq.co.uk/l/4gTiySc

You make a batch. That single act needs to update four different things at once — and in most systems, it doesn't.

Here's what actually happens inside the Core Workspace plus your maker Studio when you log a batch: your formulation is already sitting there with its ingredient list and quantities. When you record the batch as made, stock for every ingredient in that formulation is deducted automatically — no separate stock spreadsheet to update by hand afterwards. The batch gets its own record: date made, quantity yielded, which ingredients went in and at what actual cost, so if a supplier price changed since last time, this batch reflects the real number, not last spring's guess.

From there, the finished product lands in your finished-goods inventory with a cost-per-unit calculated from what the batch genuinely cost to make — not a rough estimate you did once and never revisited. For soap, skincare and candle makers, the same batch record carries through to your INCI or allergen information, so the label pulls from the actual formulation used, not a separate document you're trusting yourself to keep in sync.

Sell that stock — through an invoice, a market, a wholesale order — and it deducts from finished goods. Ask which batch a specific sale came from, six months later, and the trail is already there: formulation, ingredient cost, batch, label, sale, one thread.

No separate stock list. No separate costing spreadsheet. No searching three files to answer one question about one candle.

Sunday evening. Kettle's gone cold twice because you keep getting up to check something. The market crate's packed for tomorrow, ready by the door, and the spreadsheet's open on the laptop because you just wanted to check one thing before bed.

Twelve units, it says. You count the crate. Nine.

So now you're scrolling back through three weeks of entries, trying to work out if you forgot to log a sale, double-counted a batch, or gave two away and didn't write it down. The tea's cold again. It's gone half nine.

This is the bit nobody photographs for the shop page — not the pouring, not the labelling, the bit where you're squinting at a spreadsheet on a Sunday trying to find the moment three became a mystery.

I built Stillroom because I was that person, at that laptop, more Sundays than I want to admit. Every batch I make now updates stock the second it's finished. No separate count. No hunting.

If you're nodding along right now, tired, tea gone cold, you already know exactly which shelf your crate's on.

Ariadne is often remembered as the woman left behind on Naxos.

Less often, she is remembered as the one who saw the maze clearly enough to give Theseus a way through it.

A thread. Nothing grand. Nothing that looked like a revolution from the outside.

Then he sailed away, taking the hero’s version of the story with him.

There are seasons when the old map stops being useful: the marriage ends, the body starts speaking a different language, the work that once fitted begins to pinch at the seams. Everyone expects a dramatic answer.

Sometimes there is only the thread in your hand. The small thing you keep hold of whilst the labyrinth rearranges itself.

Ariadne did not remain abandoned in the story. Dionysus found her. She became more than the woman at the edge of someone else’s escape.

Before you make the next autumn batch, check three things — not one.

Most makers check stock on hand and stop there. That's not enough. If you're relying on memory or a spreadsheet that gets updated "when there's time," here's where it actually breaks: your finished stock count, your open supplier invoices, and your ingredient costs are three separate records, and they drift apart the moment you're too busy to update all three at once.

Say your fragrance oil went up 8% back in July. You've been costing the autumn range on the old price ever since, because nobody went back and touched the recipe cost after the invoice landed. Multiply that across twelve products and a market weekend, and your "profit" is a number from three months ago, not today.

Before the next batch: check what's actually on the shelf, check what's still unpaid to suppliers, and check whether any ingredient cost has moved since you last priced the product. If those three don't agree, you're not pricing this batch — you're guessing.

Rosehip season has started.

The hedgerows are still green, but the hips are beginning to turn red: Rosa canina, the dog rose. They arrive just as the evenings start closing in, which feels about right.

Rosehips have a long history in British folk use, especially as a syrup and tea made from the fruit. They are naturally rich in vitamin C, and the seeds have been used to make oil for skin preparations. Not magic. Just a useful hedge plant that has earned its place.

If you are gathering them, choose hips that are properly coloured and firm, from somewhere clean and away from roadside traffic. Leave plenty behind. Birds have plans too.

For the kitchen, dry them for tea or make a syrup if you know what you are doing with the fine hairs inside. Those hairs are irritating little bastards and require proper straining.

Rosehip oil also appears in my Nourishing Night Cream, alongside argan and avocado oils. Different job. Same old hedge wisdom.

When Demeter grieved so hard the earth stopped feeding anyone, it wasn't an argument that reached her. It was Baubo, lifting her skirts and cracking a joke so filthy and so exactly timed that the goddess of the harvest laughed before she remembered she wasn't supposed to.

Nobody talks about her much. She's not stately. She's an old woman with a wicked mouth who understood something the mourners didn't: grief that's gone rigid doesn't need reverence, it needs interruption.

There's a version of you that's been composed for months. Doing it properly. Grieving the marriage, the job, the body you had, in the right order, with the right face on.

Baubo doesn't ask you to heal faster. She just shows up uninvited and makes you laugh in the middle of it, and something in your chest unclenches that dignity never touched.

Elder — Sambucus nigra — is heavy right now. Walk any hedgerow in East Yorkshire this week and you'll see the flower heads have already gone over, replaced by clusters of near-black berries bending the branches down towards you.

Traditionally the berries are used cooked down into syrups and cough medicine, never eaten raw off the tree. The flowers, back in June, get used differently again, usually infused for eldeflower cordial. Folk tradition treats elder as a hedge guardian, not just an ingredient — old country belief said you asked the tree's permission before you cut it, and you didn't burn the wood.

Harvest by stripping whole clusters into a bag rather than picking berry by berry, then use a fork to comb them off the stalks once you're home. The unripe berries are the part you want, so this stage matters more than people think.

I don't currently have an elder-based product in the range, but it's one I keep coming back to when I'm sketching new ideas at the bench. Although I do make an elderberry & echinacea syrup for colds prevention for friends & family.

You've built one fragrance blend. Now you're checking it four times over, once for soap, once for candle, once for skincare, once for perfume, because IFRA sets separate limits per application category. What clears the threshold in a candle can sit over it in a body spray. Same oil. Different rule. Nobody warns you about this until you're three products deep and re-checking a spreadsheet you built for something else.

Doing that by hand means running the same ingredient list through four separate mental models and hoping you didn't carry an error from one to the next. It's not that the maths is hard. It's that it's repetitive in exactly the way that invites mistakes.

Fragrance Studio holds the blend once. The IFRA limits per application category and the EU allergen roll-up run against it automatically, across whichever product types you're using it in. Build the blend, see where it stands in each category, adjust before you commit stock to it.

It's free with any production module, because this was the calculation that made even people who do this for a living put it off.

There's a version of the story where Sekhmet was sent to punish humankind and did it so completely the other gods panicked and tricked her into drinking b**r dyed red, mistaking it for blood, until she calmed and became gentle again.

Everyone remembers the calming. Almost no one sits with the woman before it.

She wasn't wrong to burn. She was accurate. The rage was information, not malfunction, and it only became a problem once it was inconvenient for the people watching.

Somewhere in your late thirties or forties, something similar happens. A patience you didn't agree to. A fury that arrives without warning and turns out to have been correct the whole time.

Nobody hands you b**r dyed red. You just stop apologising for the heat.

Sekhmet never needed cooling. She needed someone to stop being frightened of what she saw clearly.
