When you set the bar too high or need to do things a certain way because its β€˜optimal’

It often leads to people not doing it at allπŸ₯΄

Creating a step target of 10,000 steps each day, some days is realistically unachievable πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

But rather than doing nothing, try and do as many as you can. Even if you only hit 5,000 steps - it is better than nothing! πŸ‘πŸΌ

As a clinician or coach, it is NOT your job to find the β€˜most optimal’ programme out there ❌

Instead, it is to create an entry point that you know they will stick to..

Once they are consistent, start to build on that πŸ“ˆ

Consistency drives adaptation. Not a perfectly crafted plan πŸ‘πŸ»

PERSONAL 7 YEAR TRANSFORMATION βœ…

After posting this on my story yesterday, I had quite a lot of people replying with questions..

β€˜What do you do?’
β€˜What do you eat?’
β€˜What split do you do?’
β€˜How many sets do you do?’
Etc etc etc..

And the short answer is consistency πŸš€

Be consistently good at SHOWING UP, even if it is 50%, you are closer to your goal than doing nothing πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

For me, I was a competitive swimmer for 6 years and I swam up and down the country, reaching the NERs, so I have always had that desire to succeed & improve πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ

But when I stepped away, I lost that feeling.. but the gym and fitness allowed me to keep that competitive mindset 🧠

Over the years, I have dabbled with different things from Powerlifting, Body Building, CrossFit, Triathlon etc.. just doing what I enjoy the most at the time πŸ‹πŸΌ

But now running a business and working 5-6 days per week and seeing 125+ people each month, I am just getting sessions in where I can πŸ’ͺ🏻

The secret here is being consistent over time, you can achieve great things βœ…

Pain is NOT what it always seems 😡

We often associate pain with something being wrong, damaged, broken or trapped πŸ˜•

But pain is actually our bodies way of protecting itself βœ…

Think about a time when you accidentally touched a hot pan.. what did you do? You quickly took your hand away because the pain signals to your brain to prevent injury or harm 🧠

There are many different factors that can influence pain so optimising those is an essential part of the rehab πŸ’ͺ🏻

Therefore, having a basic understanding about pain and how it works, will help to reduce unnecessary fear and keep you moving with confidence πŸ‹πŸ»

Why rest isn’t always best❓

Most injuries occur from doing too much, too soon or from over-loading or over-stretching. Meaning they have exceeded their tissue’s capacity ⬆️

Rest for most injuries is NOT ideal as this will decondition you πŸ“‰

Instead, MODIFY your activities and that will allow you to keep doing what you enjoy, without irritating your problem πŸ‹πŸ»

And this effectively, is training around pain, which is actually the solution to your problem πŸ’ͺ🏻

But contrary to that, certain injuries like fractures, do require full rest so if you are someone that is struggling with an injury and unsure on what to do, let us know and we will point you in the right direction ‼️

Training around pain is effectively treating it.. βœ…

Paul used to struggle with knee pain after years of football and running, and elbow pain from time to time when training in the gym πŸ‹πŸ»

Both of these have now cleared up whilst continuing in the gym, but with training modifications, and achieving brilliant results! πŸ’ͺ🏻

Too often we see people stop all together and bin off their goals because of pain, yet you can temporarily switch things up and still achieve results like this πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Pain-free and ready for a holiday.. two goals ticked off πŸš€

He is doing fantastic as we start the transition into hopping and running, after a solid 8-week strengthening block. Dave is ahead of schedule and well on his way to a full recovery, all through his hard-work πŸ’ͺ🏻

Not only is Dave showing physical improvements each week, psychologically he is becoming more confident! 🧠

Excellent work !! You’re smashing it πŸ‘πŸΌ

Your training volume and recovery should be balanced βš–οΈ

There will be times when the scales tip to one side πŸ‘ˆπŸ»

But maintaining a balance is crucial for maximising progress and avoiding injury πŸ’ͺ🏻

You should do as much as you can recover from πŸ‹οΈβ€β™€οΈ

Which can vary from person to person and many factors can influence this πŸ’€

Our bodies are great at adapting to various forms of load so the point here is, slowly build things up πŸ‘πŸ»

Ensure that you stay in your recoverable capacity - keep the water in the bath tub πŸ›
