WHAT IF YOUR GUT PROTOCOL IS MISSING THE BIGGER PICTURE?

You follow the diet.
You take the antimicrobials.
Your bloating improves.
Your digestion settles.
For a while, you feel better.
But then the bloating creeps back in.
Your energy drops.
Foods start bothering you again.

Why am I back where I started? Sometimes it’s because you’ve focused on what’s happening in the gut, without asking why the imbalance developed in the first place.

Rather than simply asking “How do we get rid of what’s causing my symptoms?”
I also want to know:
→ Is your body eliminating effectively?
→ Are you digesting and absorbing nutrients?
→ Is your nervous system stuck in stress mode?
→ Does your body have the energy and resources to repair?

Because gut health doesn’t happen in isolation.
The goal isn’t just to feel better for a while.

It’s to help your body become more resilient long term.

Know Your Numbers! Week is all about raising awareness of blood pressure – an important marker that can often change without obvious symptoms. But it got me thinking about the other numbers and markers we rarely know until we look.

You might know your weight or your blood pressure… but do you know what’s happening with your:
🦠 Gut health – is there an imbalance, unwanted bacteria, H. pylori, parasites or yeast?
🔥 Inflammation & immune function – are there signs your body is under increased stress?
⚡ Cellular health – are oxidative stress and mitochondrial function affecting your energy?
🧘 Nervous system – is your body recovering well, or spending too much time in stress mode?
🥗 Nutrient status – are you actually absorbing and using the nutrients your body needs?

These are some of the areas I investigate through functional testing and HRV assessment, helping us move beyond simply guessing based on symptoms.

Feeling tired, bloated, foggy or “not quite yourself” may have become your normal – but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask why.

This Know Your Numbers Week, perhaps don’t just ask the question “What’s my blood pressure?” think about “What is my body trying to tell me?” 🔎

September is a fresh start for me too! 🍂🔬

As many of you know, I’m always looking to learn more, deepen my knowledge and find new ways to support my clients.

This September, I’m starting a 12-week Live Blood Analysis course – and I’m really excited to add another skill to my toolkit.

🩸 So, what is Live Blood Analysis?
It involves looking at a fresh drop of blood under a specialised high-powered microscope, allowing the practitioner to observe blood cells in real time.

Rather than looking at this information in isolation, observations can be considered alongside a client's symptoms, health history, nutrition and other clinical information to help build a broader picture of their wellbeing.

For me, it’s another fascinating way to explore the body and help inform personalised nutrition and lifestyle support, while monitoring changes over time.
12 weeks of learning ahead – I can’t wait to share more with you as I go!

Bloating, cramps, excessive wind or unpredictable bathroom habits?
It may not be just IBS... it could be worth looking at what's happening inside your gut.

Your gut is home to trillions of microbes, and keeping this ecosystem in balance is important for healthy digestion. When certain microbes become overgrown or unwanted organisms are present, they may contribute to IBS-like symptoms.

Four things I commonly investigate include:
🍄 Candida / yeast overgrowth:
Which can thrive on a high-sugar diet, may produce gas, bloating and discomfort. This microbe can contribute to gut imbalance and brain fog

🦠 H. pylori
Is a bacterium that lives in the stomach, it may cause bloating, nausea and indigestion. H. pylori can also irritate the stomach lining

🪱 Parasites
Can be picked up through contaminated food or water, parasites may interfere with digestion & nutrient absorption. They can cause cramps, urgency and changes in bowel habit

🧫 Pathogenic or opportunistic bacteria
Some strains can disrupt the gut microbiome, and may trigger bloating, gas and IBS-like symptoms. Pathogenic bacteria can contribute to gut inflammation and irritation

The symptoms can feel very similar. If your symptoms are persistent, appropriate testing can sometimes help us understand what's happening in your gut and create a more targeted approach.

🌿Test, don't guess🌿

How can I help you reach your health goals?

Perhaps you want to…
✨ Wake up with more energy
✨ Feel comfortable after meals instead of bloated
✨ Improve your digestion and bowel habits
✨ Sleep more deeply and wake feeling refreshed
✨ Understand what's really going on with your gut
✨ Feel healthier, stronger and more like yourself again

The first step is understanding where you are now and where you want to be🧡

When I work with you, we look at the bigger picture - your symptoms, nutrition, lifestyle, stress, sleep and health history. Where appropriate, functional testing can help us investigate further and take some of the guesswork out of what your body needs.
From there, we create a personalised plan with realistic steps that fit into your life.

Because reaching your health goals isn't about following another generic diet or doing everything perfectly. It's about understanding your body and having the right support to make changes that last.

➡️ If you're looking to reach your health goals but not sure where to start, drop me a DM

September is here, bringing cooler mornings, changing colours and that familiar feeling of getting back into a routine after the summer🧡

It's a lovely time to reset, refocus and think about how we want to feel as we head into autumn.

🥦 What's in Season?
September brings an abundance of delicious seasonal produce. Look out for apples, blackberries, damsons, figs, grapes and pears, alongside broccoli, cabbage, chillies, lettuce and radishes.

Eating a wide variety of seasonal plants is a simple way to increase fibre, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants while nourishing your gut microbiome.

📆 What's happening this month?
🌱 Organic September – a month-long celebration of organic food and farming and a great opportunity to think about where our food comes from.

🍎🍯 Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year and a time for reflection, new beginnings and looking forward to the year ahead.

🍂 Autumn Equinox – marking the change of season and a lovely reminder to pause, rebalance and prepare for the months ahead.

Throughout September, I'll also be sharing more about gut and immune health, getting back into healthy routines, energy and supporting your body as we move into autumn.

Here's to a month of nourishing food, healthy routines and stepping into autumn feeling energised and well⭐

At the beginning of August, I wrote about Reset, Restore & Rebuild.
It was not about making drastic changes or quick fixes, but by taking a little more notice of what your body needs.
So now, as the month draws to a close, take a moment to check in with yourself.

✨ How is your energy?
✨ How is your digestion?
✨ Are you sleeping well?
✨ Have you made enough time for yourself?
✨ What has made you feel good this month?

Take a moment just to stop and reflect and decide what habits you are going to carry forward this next month.
I’d love to hear from you - comment below

You Know You Don't Feel Quite Right... But Where Do You Start?

Perhaps you're constantly bloated, your energy isn't what it used to be, your digestion is unpredictable, or you simply don't feel like yourself anymore.
You've tried eating better. You've bought the supplements. You've searched online for answers. Maybe you've even been told everything looks "normal" – yet you know something isn't right.

You don't need to keep guessing.

My complimentary 20-minute Discovery Call is a chance to step back and look at the bigger picture.
We'll talk about what's been going on, the symptoms you're experiencing, what you've already tried and, most importantly, how you'd like to feel instead.

I'll explain how I work, whether further investigation or testing might be helpful and which of my programmes could best support you.
Ready to stop guessing and start looking for answers?

Have you returned from holiday with new digestive symptoms? Perhaps you've come home feeling bloated, your bowel habits have changed, you have abdominal discomfort or digestive symptoms you didn't have before you went away.

Yes, it could simply be the result of different foods, more alcohol, disrupted sleep, dehydration or a change in routine – and often things settle once you're home.

But if they don't, don't ignore them.

Travel can sometimes expose us to bacteria or parasites through contaminated food or water. Digestive symptoms can also be associated with changes in the gut microbiome, bacterial overgrowth, yeast or inflammation.
This is where testing rather than guessing can be really helpful.

A comprehensive stool test can look at different aspects of your gut health, including:
🦠 Certain parasites and pathogenic bacteria
🧫 Your gut microbiome and opportunistic bacteria
🌿 Yeast and fungal overgrowth
🔥 Markers associated with intestinal inflammation
🛡️ Gut immune function
🍽️ How well you're digesting your food

If your digestion hasn't returned to normal after your holiday, don't just keep eliminating foods or reaching for another supplement.
Find out what's going on in your gut so you can take the right next steps.

If you'd like to know more about comprehensive stool testing and whether it might be appropriate for you, book a complimentary call

A question I am frequently being asked at the moment is why do I feel bloated and puffy after a long flight.
Long periods of sitting, cabin pressure, dehydration, salty foods and alcohol all contribute to temporary fluid retention and swelling when we travel and your body may just need a little help getting things moving again.

Once you arrive or get home:
🚶 Walk – gentle movement helps circulation and lymphatic flow
💧 Rehydrate – particularly after flying or drinking alcohol
🧘 Stretch & breathe deeply – your lymphatic system benefits from movement and diaphragmatic breathing
🥗 Return to fresh, whole foods – think colourful vegetables, fruit and plenty of potassium-rich foods
🦵 Put your feet up – especially if your ankles and legs feel swollen
