Ostara Moon yoga is a gentle flowing hatha style yoga class which connects you to the phases of the moon to help balance hormone and provide relaxation and release. It offers deep, gentle yoga asana which honours the moon phases, earth cycles and feminine energy. This class is suitable for any age and ability and warmly welcomes beginners. ner fire and set you up for your day ahead. After gently warming the body we will move through variations on sun salutations with a gentle but dynamic flow and end with a brief relaxation. Pregnancy Yoga a beautiful class to help you keep active during pregnancy, help prepare for the birth and bond with your baby. This class offers a gentle and safe yoga practice developed especially for pregnant bodies. The yoga postures (asana) are suitable for pregnancy, prepare you for birth and can be further adapted for common pregnancy ailments. More than just a yoga class each session also provides birth education, breathing techniques for birth and deep relaxation to empower you towards a positive birth. All led by a qualified midwife, practicing doula and yoga teacher. These classes also provide a supportive community of like-minded parents to be to share your journey with. Suitable from 14 weeks pregnant. Mum & Baby Yoga offers a nurturing class for new parents with breathing techniques to calm the mind, yoga to stretch, strengthen and recharge your energy levels and relaxation to soothe. Each class includes both soothing baby massage and fun yoga suitable for little bodies, offering a special time for you and your baby to bond. Traditional yoga postures (asana) are adapted for a postnatal yoga practice which gently restores and tones the body after birth. All this in our wonderful community, with a chat and a cuppa. Suitable from 6 weeks postnatal (8-12 weeks post caesarean section depending on your recovery) until baby is mobile.

It’s hard to put into words just how meaningful these weekend retreats are to me.

I want to talk about the liminal space in birth work that very few people ever see.

It's the waiting.
Sometimes its over 4 weeks waiting with no news.
Sometimes its a slow prodromal labour for days.
Sometimes its waters breaking......then waiting.
Sometimes its navigating difficult decisions of c section or induction before labour has even begun.

Then labour happens.
Sometimes its fast and intense.
Sometimes a slow, steady climb.
Sometimes it stalls.
Sometimes it becomes medically complex.
Sometimes c section is the best path.

Every birth asks us to step into the unknown.
Its asks for trust.
Its asks us to hold space for fear, uncertainty and hope, all at the same time.
It asks us to honour each unique birth journey with compassion and respect.

Every time I enter that space of not knowing, I chose trust.

Trust birth.
Trust women.
Trust babies.
Trust myself.

That doesn't mean there aren't moments of doubt and challenge, there always are. But like the families I support, I always return to trust.

I feel this is a huge lessons for me this year.

Birth Trauma Awareness Week 💜
My thoughts...

There are two types of people who seek birth doula support: those who have experienced birth trauma and the first-time parents who are hoping to avoid it.

Birth, like all of life's biggest transitions can be deeply transformative and beautiful. But for some, it can also be deeply traumatic.
Birth trauma isn't about not getting the "perfect" birth. Sometimes it results from devastating loss or unexpected emergencies that are unavoidable. But one of the most common avoidable causes of birth trauma is when the person giving birth doesn't feel safe, heard, respected, or feels that their choices are treated as an inconvenience.
Maternity care is working to reduce risk and prevent harm. Families want to be heard, informed, and involved in decisions about their care. Too often, these aims come into conflict.
Many families are left feeling they have two impossible choices: comply with recommendations that don't feel right for them or make decisions outside of guidance, risking judgement, isolation or even a breakdown in the support they receive.

How did we get here?
Patriarchy and medical misogyny have shaped women's healthcare for generations. Time and again reports into the state of maternity services identify the same recurring issue: women and families were not listened to.

When are we going to learn?
Women have the right to make informed decisions about their own bodies and their babies. Risk is personal. Healthcare is nuanced. One-size-fits-all care doesn't work.
Women shouldn't feel they have to agree to procedures they don't want in order to access maternity care. Equally, they shouldn't have to choose between following guidance and having a birth experience that aligns with their values.
Now, more than ever, we need compassionate, individualised maternity care built on trust, partnership, and informed choice.

Every family deserves to be heard. Every voice matters.

✨ A little spotlight on one of the wonderful women joining us at our October Roots & Radiance Retreat... ✨

Meet Holly, our incredible reflexologist. Whether you join us for the day or the full weekend, you'll enjoy a 30-minute reflexology session with Holly as part of your retreat experience.

Holly began training in holistic therapies in 2000 and has since completed specialist training in maternity and fertility reflexology. She supports women through every stage of life, from early menstruation and pre-conception, through pregnancy and the postnatal period, to menopause and beyond.

Using reflexology to help balance hormones and support overall wellbeing, Holly's aim is to help each person achieve optimum health, whatever stage of life they're in. She also provides an inclusive, welcoming space and is proudly LGBTQ+ friendly.

I had a wonderful Retreat Day yesterday in the Scottish Borders with my doula sisters from the 💛

We began the day with a cacao ceremony to open our hearts, followed by a sharing circle that set the tone for a day of connection, learning, and support.

We enjoyed an inspiring skills sharing session where Robyn generously shared some of her extensive knowledge of homeopathy, and Lucia introduced us to the wisdom of Rebozo. Honestly, every time I learn about Rebozo or Biomechanics for Birth, I discover something new. Each person brings their own unique perspective, knowledge, and skills, and I love how much we learn from one another.

Most of all, this was a day of genuine connection, support, and sharing, alongside some amazing food!

As a lone practitioner, I deeply appreciate being part of this network. It's so valuable to have a doulas I can turn to for knowledge, experience, and encouragement. As much as I support others, I am also held and supported in return.

Feeling grateful for this wonderful community. ✨
