It’s so important to know your risk and pay attention to changes in things like your urinary habits and erectile difficulties. If you’re experiencing symptoms, are over 50, or simply have concerns about prostate cancer, speak to your GP.

Don’t ignore the signs. Early detection can make a difference. 🩵🤍

Prostate cancer can develop with little or no noticeable symptoms in the early stages, which is why knowing the signs and speaking to your GP is so important.

Some common symptoms to look out for include:

• Difficulty starting or stopping when urinating
• A weak or interrupted urine flow
• Feeling like your bladder hasn’t fully emptied
• Blood in your urine or semen
• Erectile difficulties

These symptoms can be caused by conditions other than prostate cancer, but don’t ignore changes. If you’re experiencing any of these, speak to your GP and get checked.

If you could go back to the day you, or someone close to you, was diagnosed with prostate cancer, what’s the one thing you wish you’d known then?

Maybe it’s something that helped you cope, a question you wish you’d asked, or simply something you wish someone had told you.

Share it in the comments. Your experience could be exactly what someone newly diagnosed needs to hear today 🩵🤍

Every year, around 5,000 men in Scotland are diagnosed with prostate cancer.

That’s 5,000 families, friends and communities affected.

Early conversations can make a difference. Know your risk, know the signs, and speak to your GP if you have concerns.

Together, we can help Orkney men and their families 🩵🤍

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our Kilt Walk yesterday and helped make it such a brilliant success. 🩵🤍

It was wonderful to see so many people walking through the streets of Kirkwall, proudly wearing their tartan and showing their support for prostate awareness. The atmosphere was fantastic, with families, friends and four-legged friends all getting involved! 🥾🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

The walk was about much more than raising funds — it was about getting people talking about prostate health and encouraging men to get checked.

From all of us on the Orkney Prostate Awareness committee, thank you for your incredible support. 💙

Every step helps spread the message: don’t ignore it — get checked.
