Such a super day! Time here at beautiful Pool Bridge Farm swimming, soaking up the vibe and chatting about delivering upcoming wellbeing events in their fantastic new Tepee.

Watch this space for more news as plans are finalised!

This heavenly place has once again worked it's magic. There is nothing like slipping into a cold water lake to clear your mind, reset your energy and restore your humour and equilibrium.....

Sanity restored, emotional resilience topped up - I can take up my place as a member of 'the sandwich generation' more comfortably again.

It's harder than it sounds! πŸ₯ͺ

Honestly, if you're middle aged, anywhere near the menopause or sandwiched between generations of caring responsibilities and you've not yet tried wild swimming - I 100% recommend it.

And this place is brilliant 😍

How much attention do you pay to things that happen in life that made you happy or were fun?

Often we don't fully engage with lovely things happening. That's because we're distracted or not really present in the moment.

Part of this weeks home practice on our Mindfulness Based Living Course is to reflect on a 'Pleasant Event' that happened each day.

That means;
Taking a few moments to notice what it was, whether you were aware of enjoying it at the time, how you experienced it through your thoughts, emotions, feelings and what's your experience now, as you recall it.

This helps us see more of the joy, happiness and easy simple pleasures are lives are full of that otherwise can pass by unnoticed. Noticing them boosts our overall feel good vibe πŸ™‚ and we start to see more happy things.

This simple practice also helps us become more aware at the time the nice things are happening - that's brilliant because we get to experience it more fully, ie we feel more joy, more happiness, more fun and more connection πŸ’š

Chester is happy to share one of his 'pleasant events' here! πŸ˜„πŸΎ

He found a great, new tennis ball in the river! It made him super proud, happy and bouncy 🐾 πŸ•

I think it's one of my 'pleasant events' for today too!

πŸ’š Try looking out for your 'Pleasant Events' each day this week and see what difference it makes πŸ’š

Here's my happy place! πŸ˜„
I always feel better after time here at my little allotment.

Interestingly, I've noticed when I can't really be bothered to go or it feels like too much effort that's when I benefit the most.

It's like a little portal where time has no meaning - I 'lose' hours here! and always return home refreshed and restored, happy and usually mucky and tired!

Whatever the weather, internal or external! 🌧 πŸ˜” you can't beat getting your hands dirty in the earth, sowing seeds, harvesting home grown goodies, fresh air, birdsong and time in nature.

Dodging the showers and enjoying a couple of hours at the allotment. Taking time to notice simple pleasures and pockets of joy all around.

πŸ’š colours, new growth, birdsong, beautiful flowers, lush greens, patterns of light, bees, healthy seedlings - the signs and sounds of early summer and the promise of what lies ahead........ 😍

Heaven

Never undersestimate the power of a kind word, friendly smile or moment of connection with a stranger..... πŸ₯°

One of this weeks practices on my current Mindfulness Based Living Course has been to share kindness with others. Whether planned or unplanned - spontaneous, small and easy - the benefits ripple outwards in increasing circles in our lives and the lives of those we come into contact with.

πŸ’™ Kindness is a superpower!
πŸ’š Spread a little happiness
🩡 Smile and the world smiles with you 😊

Maybe giving out walnuts to a mostly male group for them to explore the sensory experience wasn't such a good idea!

*Note to self - consider more carefully how your audience might engage with the materials....

Thank you Harrogate Mind for such a fun group to work with!

Meditation is easier than you might think it is.

And thinking about things is how we create difficulty for ourselves....... πŸ˜‰

Learning instead, how to observe our thoughts, not be swept away by them into autopilot and not to believe all of the thoughts, are helpful ways to live a more joyful, peaceful, connected life.

Meditation and mindfulness are powerful practical tools.

I met Babaa today - mid way between two great meet ups in York. He was gorgeous - full of fun, joy, friendliness and enthusiasm.

A perfect doggy filler-in a mid week sandwich of connection, time out with others and change of scene.

This morning was happily spent at Jo Leatham
and Linda Harrison monthly media coffee morning. This afternoon was in the wonderful company of Theresa Hargreaves.

Two brilliant half days gaining clarity, perspective and support, through connection with like minded peers.

Babaa's commitment to making new friends was impressive! πŸ˜‰ 🐾 No hesitation - he was straight there - 100% warmth and friendliness.

I wonder how much easier we'd make friends if we showed up with his level of trust, confidence and belief that everyone was a potential new best friend?!

I've returned home with a renewed energy and positivity. Sometimes a friendly hug, warm welcome and some enthusiasm from others is just the boost we need!

Thank you Lucy Rigley
Andrea Sharp, SarahJane Fliss Lee Erika (and Babaa of course) for a brilliant, helpful day
