✨ THOSE LITTLE RED BUMPS AFTER LASER? THEY’RE A GOOD THING. ✨

If you’ve ever looked at your skin immediately after laser hair removal and wondered, “Is that supposed to happen?” the answer is often Yaaaas 🔥

What you’re seeing is called perifollicular oedema — small, temporary areas of swelling and redness that appear around the hair follicles following treatment.

🔬 But why does it happen?

Laser energy is absorbed by the pigment in the hair. This creates controlled heat within the follicle, which can trigger a temporary inflammatory response in the surrounding tissue.

That response can appear as tiny raised bumps around the follicles, exactly like the ones you can see in this photo.

✨ And why is it a positive sign?

Perifollicular oedema is an indication that the follicle has responded to the laser energy. It’s one of the clinical signs we look for when assessing an effective treatment response.

The redness and swelling are temporary and will usually settle relatively quickly after treatment.

So don’t panic when you see those little bumps; your skin is responding to the treatment. 🤍

Laser hair removal is a process, and results build progressively with the correct treatment schedule, settings and aftercare.

3 things I wish every laser client knew before starting 👇

1. You need a course!! Not one treatment.
Laser works best when the hair is in the right stage of its growth cycle, so multiple sessions are needed to achieve long-term reduction.

2. Shaving is your friend.
You can shave between appointments, and you should! Avoid waxing, plucking or epilating because the laser needs the hair follicle present to target it.

3. Consistency = results.
Most important in my expert opinion 💁🏼‍♀️
Skipping appointments, tanning, plucking or not following your aftercare can affect your progress. Stick to your treatment schedule and look after your skin between sessions.
