ADVENT DAY 15 - Mind Storage Boxes
How many things are currently on your to do list? Does looking at your to do list help calm you down and make you feel organised and on top of things, or overwhelmed and unsure how you are going to achieve everything there?
How often do we find the need to try and organise ourselves, to aim towards that picture perfect moment when everything is ticked off, only to find another 10 items added to the list.
Life can be busy and cluttered, and throw more than one curve ball our way at a time. The key here is to be able to de-clutter the mind to enhance our ability to focus on one task at a time.
Take a deep breath and close your eyes, imaging a set of 12 storage boxes or drawers in your mind. Each storage box is capable of containing one thought or thing to focus on.
Organise your thoughts into the storage boxes, anything that is currently on your mind, worries, things to do, funny bits, things you are excited about, all need a storage space home. Try to leave a couple of storage boxes free for any new items which may arise during the day.
If you are running out of storage boxes, stop and take a closer look at your items, what can you let go of?
As you finish organising, stand back and admire your hard work, with your thoughts neatly organised and any unnecessary clutter discarded, and let the feeling of contented calm wash over you.
