🧸 We are currently looking for donations of gently loved toys for our clinic areas and therapy spaces 🚗🧩
To help us maintain infection control standards 🧼, we are only able to accept toys that can be easily wiped clean (such as plastic toys, magnetic tiles, cars, dolls/action figures, Duplo/Lego, puzzles with wipeable pieces, etc.). Unfortunately, we cannot accept soft toys or fabric items ❌🧸
If your children have outgrown any toys that are still in good condition, we would truly appreciate any donations 🙏 Your kindness helps make our clinics feel warmer, calmer, and more welcoming for the children and families we care for every day ❤️
📍 Donations can be dropped off at Longlands Child Development Centre, Lancaster.
Thank you so much for your support 💛✨

🌿 Why Outdoor Play Matters for Children 🌿

Spending time outdoors isn’t just fun—it plays a vital role in a child’s development! 🌈

Outdoor play helps children build strong bodies through climbing, running, and balancing, while also developing important coordination and motor skills. Uneven surfaces, open spaces, and natural obstacles provide the perfect environment for practicing movement in ways that indoor spaces just can’t match.

It’s also fantastic for sensory development. Feeling the grass under their feet, listening to birds, or playing with sand and water all help children process and respond to sensory information more effectively.

Beyond the physical benefits, outdoor play supports emotional wellbeing too. Fresh air, freedom to explore, and unstructured play can reduce stress, improve mood, and boost confidence. 🌞
And it doesn’t have to be a sunny day to enjoy it—rainy days can be just as valuable. Pop on a coat, grab the wellies, and head out anyway… puddles included!

And let’s not forget social skills! Whether it’s taking turns on the swings or creating imaginative games together, outdoor environments encourage communication, cooperation, and creativity.

So next time, whatever the weather, head outside and let your child explore, discover, and grow through play. 🍃

Now that primary school places have been announced 🎒✨

We’re now in that “getting ready for primary school” phase, and trying to focus on confidence over academics:

✨ Practising simple routines (mornings, bedtime, getting dressed)🧥👟 Encouraging independence – shoes, coats, toilet, handwashing🗣️ Talking about school in a positive, reassuring way📚 Reading together every day🤝 Practising social skills like sharing, taking turns, asking for help🎒 Letting them choose their bag/lunchbox to build excitement

It’s such a big milestone—equal parts excitement and nerves (for children and parents 😅)

As a parent, you don’t always realise how important accessible facilities are… until you need them. 💙👨‍👩‍👧‍👦
For many families with disabled children, standard toilets simply aren’t enough. That’s where Changing Places toilets make a life-changing difference. ♿✨
These facilities provide: ✔️ A height-adjustable changing bench 🛏️
✔️ A hoist 🔄
✔️ Plenty of space for carers 👩‍👦
✔️ A safe, dignified environment 🫶
Without them, simple trips out—shopping 🛍️, days out 🎡, even appointments 🏥—can become stressful or impossible.
Every child deserves dignity. Every family deserves the freedom to go out without worry. 💛
If you’re a parent, ally, or just someone who cares—please support the push for more Changing Places toilets in public spaces. It’s not a luxury, it’s a necessity. 🙌
