On principle I rarely listen to the programme on Radio 2 from midday, however I’m languishing at home in a hothouse and couldn’t be bothered to stir myself to switch it off. 2 very interesting pieces on the back of each other. One about magnetic fields and the Vegus nerve. The other about algae. The first is info as to how and why I’ve been running a successful and busy practice for 35 years using Homeopathy and NLP. The second is quite amusing and also a tribute to the Laws of Nature. You might want to do ‘listen again’ from around 1pm.

I'm offering a couple of in-person astrology afternoons in Kendal, Cumbria - aimed at beginners (or refreshers):

The first is on Friday 3rd July 2026 (this one is definitely running and there are a few places left) and the second (a repeat of the first - but no two sessions are exactly alike as they're interactive) is on Friday 4th September.

Both are for small groups (up to 10 participants) and run from 1.30-4.30pm (with refreshments provided), taking place at the Unitarian Chapel in Kendal Cumbria. Suggested donations between £25-35, with all proceeds going to the chapel schoolroom roof fund.

We'll be looking at the wheel of the year and how the signs of the zodiac fit into that, along with an exploration of the energies of the inner planets (sun, moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars).

Please get in touch if you're interested in joining us on either date, letting me have your birth details (date, place and time of birth as near as you can get it) if we haven't worked together before (or if it's been a long time - in which case I might not have kept your details).

1. The ritual was called “Wičháŋpi Wóyute” — star feeding.
Lakota healers used it for those who lost loved ones or survived violence.

They’d gather stones representing the pain, then carry them to a river and release them one by one while speaking the memory out loud to the water.
The final stone was kept as a reminder that grief was witnessed, not erased.

But in 2019, Johns Hopkins trauma researchers recreated it with PTSD patients.
They found the physical act of releasing objects while verbalizing trauma engages both hemispheres of the brain — something talk therapy alone doesn’t achieve.
Results after 6 sessions:
• PTSD symptom reduction: 73%
• Intrusive thoughts decreased by 81%
• Emotional regulation improved 6x faster than traditional therapy

3. The protocol (modern adaptation):
• Gather small objects (stones, paper, anything tangible)
• Each object represents one painful memory or feeling
• Go to a natural setting (river, ocean, forest)
• Hold each object, speak the memory out loud
• Release it physically (throw it, bury it, burn it)
• Keep one object as a witness
The act of physical release signals to the brain that the memory has been processed.
