The Careers & Engagement Team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Trust provides a service. Firstly, a service to the Trust and the wider healthcare community, by providing opportunities for our workforce to demonstrate the opportunities within their sector. In addition, we provide a service to the education providers in our area, opening up placements for their students undertaking vocat

ional qualifications in health and social care and supporting their students with careers talks and mock interviews. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, we provide a service to members of our community who are seeking healthcare employment opportunities. This can be in the form of volunteering, work experience, pre-employment programmes, educational placements and general guidance on healthcare careers. We work closely with our Careers Team colleagues across the North West of England, ensuring that our offers are consistent and inclusive. We also ensure that our colleagues in the Social Care sector are integral to the work we undertake, creating a system-wide workforce offer. Inclusivity, Diversity and Equality lie at the heart of our service and we endeavour to ensure that all members of our community are provided opportunities on an equitable basis.

A huge congratulations to the 2nd Year T Level Health students at Lancaster & Morecambe College, who have come to the end of their T Level Study! 👏

Thank you for inviting the team to your celebratory event at the college yesterday!

We wish you all the very best for the future and are incredibly proud of everything you have achieved during your placements with us. The time, effort and growth shown whilst on placement has not gone unnoticed.

As you take your next steps into your future careers, we hope you look back on your time here with fondness and confidence in all you’ve accomplished.

Magical Monday: we would like to celebrate the fantastic achievements of our supported interns - had their graduation ceremony last week. There was lots to celebrate; three of our interns have now secured permanent positions working at Furness General! Thinking about what motivates the team on , I realised that a week today, we will be delivering another full-day of Mentor Training for support staff whose departments host students. This will take the total number of University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust colleagues trained to over 160, keeping us on course for the 200+ by the end of the year. The big difference this time is that we will be joined by colleagues from Lancashire and South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust. We have successfully collaborated with our partner Trust to allow for students from our partner colleges, Furness College, Kendal College & Lancaster & Morecambe College to undertake Industry Based Placements in a Mental Health setting. It's and we thought we would take the opportunity to share what an Apprenticeship is, as there are often misconceptions.

An Apprenticeship with University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust can be accessed in two main ways...

Existing employees can seek out Continuous Professional Development opportunities through their manager and the UHMBT Careers & Apprenticeships Team. However, the Apprenticeship must be aligned to their current role.

Or, a vacancy can be advertised as an Apprenticeship, meaning the same application and recruitment processes as any standard advertised role. One cannot just undertake an Apprenticeship without an associated job role being advertised.

We’ve been gathering some brilliant feedback from our wards and departments about hosting T Level students.

Our teams have highlighted the value that these students bring. From their fresh perspectives to staff sharing how rewarding they’ve found mentoring them. It is fantastic to see placements making a real impact on both learners and colleagues.

Today, on , I wanted highlight how University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust can support and develop young learners. This Health student from Lancaster & Morecambe College has progressed onto undertaking CSW shifts. I am particularly proud of this student, as I happened to teach her when she was in Year 4 at Primary School. Given the current National conversation around providing opportunities for young people, this seemed particularly pertinent.

It's for our social media posting. There are a number University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust colleagues currently undertaking CPD related Administrative . So long as the learning aligns with your role, it is a great way to gain additional academic qualifications. You will need support from your manager but possible qualifications are: L3 Business Administrator, L3 Content Creator, L3 Event Assistant, L4 Improvement Practitioner, L4 Digital Accessibility Specialist, L5 Coaching Professional, L5 Operations Manager, L6 Service Designer, L6 Improvement Leader and more. It won't necessarily mean a role change or more money but again, an excellent way to upskill and enhance your career prospects.
